I’m currently considering dropping a semester art class due to an awful teacher. Problem is, I’m afraid it’ll affect my chances at selective schools. Will it?
The most selective schools I applied to were UPenn, Duke, Brown, and Stanford. Being “artistic” was not a point of my application.
By definition, you can’t get rescinded until you’ve been accepted.
Will it impact your application? Probably not. Regardless, you have to inform all your colleges of the change.
If you go that route you must notify every school you applied to that you have dropped the class. Best to do it in writing so you have a record. I would guess that dropping an art elective class (be sure you don’t need the art credit to graduate HS) would not have a material impact on any admissions decision.
