Hi, I’m currently a senior at a new high school and I’ve already applied to schools in the UC and California State University systems. I joined college level choir (not AP or honors) at the beginning of the school year due to it being $600 dollars less than beginning choir, but I’m far too stressed out for a senior with only 5 classes, with all the stress coming from choir. I do have an A, and high grades in my other courses, but there are various problems I’d like to not be involved in the rest of senior year:
- We are expected to fundraise for the show choirs even though that money doesn’t go to us–and I don’t have that kind of money
- It takes a lot of time out of my schedule–time that could go to a course more suited to my possible career path as well as volunteer work
- The teacher does not discipline (is only the teacher because his dad was the year before), will put kids on the spot when they say they have difficulty performing and will move on without those new to the class
- The environment at times can become hostile with classmates constantly blaming others for any little mistake or imperfection and shame instead of aid to solve the problem they find
I really feel as though I can’t stand anymore of this and I would like to drop, only since I’ve applied already, I would like to know if this would hurt my chances at getting into college since we’re supposed to complete classes we self report with a C- or better.
