Dropping an AP midyear.. BUT..

Hey.

I am in AP Computer Science, but I have a hard time understanding my classes and the way the teacher grades/ assigns is very difficult and stressful. For this reason, I have decided to drop the class mid year. however, I still managed to get an A for semster 1 (through a lotta hard work)

However, I am aware it looks bad on resume for dropping a clas, as I am considering self-studying and taking the AP exam and hopefully scoring well on it.

Does anyone know how bad this looks on resume? If I get a good score on exam, does that make up for it? or make it look even better?

And if I don’t take it at all, how bad does it look, given I still got an A first semester?

BUMP (however the sh*t thats supposed to work)

AP exam scores have little to no bearing on admissions, so no getting a good score on it will not “make up for it”. Colleges generally also frown upon self-studying if the course is offered at your school (unless there are extenuating circumstances- this is not one of them). In addition, dropping a course you have an A in will put a major red flag on your application, in addition to decreasing your course rigor. It just seems like an all-around bad idea.
