I want to drop an internship that I have as an elective but I’m worried that it will effect me later on. I have already been accepted and turned in my deposit to the college of my choice and I have a scholarship through that school. The internship is at an elementary school but it was chosen last year before I had decided on nursing to be the career I want to pursue. I want to know if it will negatively affect me since it is an elective credit, I have all the credits I need, I will notify them of the drop and I will only be receiving 3 credits this semester.
It is probably OK. BUT don’t guess. Email or call the college directly. If they say it is OK to drop, ask for a confirmation in writing. And also be certain to check with your guidance counselor that you will still have everything you need to graduate HS without the internship.
