if I am accepted early, and because of scheduling difficulties, I want to drop French, can I drop it without geeting the approval from the University beforehand? BTW, foreign language is an elective class in my school, and the letter says that I only have to report non-electives scedule changes…

Don’t even worry about it. They just don’t want you taking a schedule of PE and teacher’s aide and going home at noon.

Might be significant if it’s AP French.

Take the course until you submit the midyear report, then drop it.

Ehh david, Columbia still needs to see an end of the year transcript, and dropping it right now doesn’t mean that the grade disappears from the mid year transcript either.

David, if somebody does that, he or she is on the black list if more than expected number of students yield.

my friend was in a similar situation last year. she applied ED to columbia and was accepted. the teacher for AP Environmental Science at our high school was not the nicest guy and for a double period 5 days a week, many did not want to stay. so she submitted her mid-year report WITH the APES grade, and dropped it 2nd semester. columbia did not seem to mind when the final transcript was sent. i really don’t think it’ll be a big deal…just keep the rest of your grades up.
