I am currently attending a college, it starts classes this Wednesday. I just moved in yesterday, and I was wondering how I can drop out. Will I have to pay back any financial aid and student loans?
I want to become a CTN in Navy, my original plan was to go to college for a year, then Navy. However, the current college I am attending is a small, party school.
If anyone can give me any and all information, it will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you for your time,
William
Why have you decided to drop out so soon, why not stick around and give it a try?
The Navy doesn’t like quitters. Stick it out for the year and if you still want to enlist, that’s the time to do it. Get good grades.
If you haven’t even started, then call the financial aid office ASAP and see if you owe $ if you have not started clases. Talk to your parents about your plan and see what they think.
What is your long term plan? CTN only requires a HS degree…doesn’t seem like a career.
Talk to the aid office ASAP. Go today if you can. No one here can tell you your school refund policy. Did you sign up for the Navy yet? You might want to get on that Asap as well. There is no guarantee the Navy will take you so you may end up with nothing going this route.
Also, the Navy might take you, but you may not get to work as a CTN. How would you feel about that?
Do you want to be an officer?
Actually, being a CTN will set him/her up big time for great jobs after the enlistment, as long as they play their cards right. It’s a great way to break into cyber security, which currently is more about certifications than a college degree.
However… who knows if it’s tough getting in as a CTN right now. @Wmnicholas could end-up waiting for a long time, not to mention the possibility of netting getting in as a CTN at all.
- Make sure your contract says CTN or at least some form of CT. Presume you have the qualifying ASVAB?
- Delayed entry program
- Most CT's will have or be working on college. A semester of credits is at least a start.
