DTA Student

I’m a student at a CC and… I actually love it. I want to transfer to UW, UW Bothell, or Seattle U.

I’m working on my DTA. I never cared about education or getting a degree but life changes.

So far, every pre req has always been over 3.8 (doesn’t really matter apparently)

In fall of 2016 my LOVELY ex gf gave me Mono. I would really advise to everyone- avoid it. I was withdrawn from Acct. 201 and Public Speaking. I couldn’t even get up and call my Prof.

This semester in Eng. 102, I am going to fail.

So… 2 Ws. That could’ve been deducted from by transcript but I listened to a facility memeber who told me not to fill out the form.

& 0.4? in English 102 (3.0 in 101)

I want to know- what you would do in my position?

I want to my put all into schoolwork, start a club (mainly because the ones on my campus are not what many of us need), and try to get into Phi. and more.

I sent an email to my advisor but I was just wondering what you would do since all of you have terrific grades, SAT scores, etc.

Ask if you can get a medical withdrawal from the classes. I imagine you can get a doctor’s note saying you had mono for documentation if that is required.

The issue

I attend a CC in Wa. State. My chances of medical w/d went out of the window once I was convinced by a faculty member that, and I quote,

" Oh gosh, don’t even bother! Honestly, it will not matter. Just retake accounting and public speaking (no s###)"

“My dream is to go to UW Foster. This won’t affect my chances?”

“Honey, calm down. You’ll get in if you continue getting these grades and etc.”

My advisor was astonished. She wanted the name of the woman and everything. She quit. I cannot do a single thing because I didn’t turn it in before the expiration date. I blame myself more because I failed to consult with my academic advisor.

What is also kind of weird of odd is that people in registration, admissions, etc call me sugar or pet names and… They’re 40+ women that are married.

I feel if I start a club, continue busting my (i’m not sure if I can curse, allowed into honors down the road, continue working, intern, and commit to community service (my catholic prep hs had us do 120 hrs over the years) along with explaining my situation and everything.

I might have a chance. All I can do is follow through with what I said.

Are you sure you can’t do anything? Can you speak to a dean? One semester in college, I was able to get a medical withdrawal past the deadline because I spoke to a dean.

That was really weird advice from that professor. You should always try to get a medical withdrawal if you are eligible, especially if all you have to do is fill out a form. The good news, though, is that you still will have good chances if you continue to achieve like you did before you got mono - this will be more of a blip that you can explain on your transcript.
