Dual Major in Psych. and Soc. for Grad School?

I’m interested in attending grad. school (in my home town - lowers costs for me a bit) for a doctorate in Social Work. My current intended graduation date is May 2016.

I recently met with an adviser at school who said I could add Sociology as a major, if I were to take summer courses, which I was already planning on doing (because I miscalculated credits and thought I wouldn’t be able to graduate on time).

My question is - does a dual major look better when applying to a grad. school program in Social Work? I feel like I would do better in Sociology because Psychology is more mental, but I don’t want to drop all of the work I have already done for that major.

Another small question: I scored a B- in Social Psychology - the class was hard, but I tried my hardest and my professor ended up boosting my grade. Should I retake it, or could I go without retaking it?

Thank you in advance.

Not necessarily. It wouldn’t matter if you double-majored in this case. Sociology by itself will be fine. You can just keep psychology as a minor.

AS for the B-…that’s up to you. If your GPA is otherwise high and that’s your only low course, then I wouldn’t retake.
