I am on Hawaiian Time (6 hours later than EDT) and according to this link I can turn the common app in any time before midnight of my own time. Can anyone confirm this?
Eastern!
ALWAYS.
@arabrab but the link…
Yes, I ALWAYS assume Eastern Time–that way you aren’t messed up. D assumed HI time for a CA application. I was supposed to be late but she pleaded with the admissions counselor so he marked it on-time because it just made the HI time zone, but I would NOT count on leniency. Much safer to assume Eastern–5 hours earlier than Hawaii Standard Time (now with Daylight Savings).
@himom what year was that? i think this answer might be new as everyone here says eastern but this says the exact opposite. https://appsupport.commonapp.org/link/portal/33011/33013/Article/35/Where-can-I-find-information-about-college-deadlines
^ While that’s the intention, the Common App doesn’t exactly have the best tech team…
@1golfer1 haha well I guess I’ll just have to email the schools asking if they will accept it as long as it was submitted before midnight of my time. Best of luck to me.
Better safe than sorry and not cut it to the last minute. If you already missed EDT, you just have to try to get the Us to understand that you’re following what you read. My D was not using the common app, but she was applying as a transfer student years ago. She was ultimately accepted after some groveling about time zones.
