The other hypocrisy is Michelle’s involvement in a recent telephone campaign where she made robo calls with a message that said this:
“Hello, this is Michelle Duggar. I’m calling to inform you of some shocking news that would affect the safety of Northwest Arkansas women and children. The Fayetteville City Council is voting on an ordinance this Tuesday night that would allow men – yes I said men – to use womens and girls restrooms, locker rooms, showers, sleeping areas and other areas that are designated for females only. I don’t believe the citizens of Fayetteville would want males with past child predator convictions that claim they are female to have a legal right to enter private areas that are reserved for women and girls. I doubt that Fayetteville parents would stand for a law that would endanger their daughters or allow them to be traumatized by a man joining them in their private space. We should never place the preference of an adult over the safety and innocence of a child. Parents, who do you want undressing next to your daughter at the public swimming pool’s private changing area? I still believe that we are a society that puts women and children first. I don’t know the legal definition of child molestation, but it seems it should be classified as rape or incest rather than child molestation if the age of the perp is 13 or 14 and the victim is only a couple of years younger. Just making this distinction because “child molester” should be reserved for those who truly are. While what he did was awful and he seems to have been a serial offender, I’m not sure he should be called a child molester (I’ve also heard of 18 year old boyfriends being referred to as child molesters for sex with their 17 year old girlfriends–it just dilutes the meaning and offensiveness of the term IMO).
Maybe that’s why they built the new house, with dormitories set up for the girls and the boys - safety in number for thie girls, instead of putting one or two at risk in private bedrooms? So, see, they WERE protecting their daughters (gag, gag).
You have to wonder if one of the victims felt pressure from her family to have the record expunged for her brother’s sake as much as her own. And of course the “family business” of being reality television stars was in jeopardy too.

To be fair, not all men who sexually abused younger girls when they were teens turn out to be pedophiles. Some are troubled kids, some are “just” acting out on sexual urges that are not directed toward children later in life when adult women are available.
This infuriates me. Can you imagine the message that is being sent to this young girl? So she endures the molestation and then has to protect him by signing an affidavit destroying the report and having his record expunged. I do not know how these people live with themselves.
I have watched the show and have always felt sorry for the older girls. Their life choices seem to be marriage or remain at home caring for their younger siblings. Now there is this situation as well.
The Duggers are obsessed with avoiding sexual feelings. No dancing - no bathing suits/swimming pools/beach - as these are things that could cause “wrong feelings” in the boys. Wonder if they developed some of these rules after Jodh molested his sisters?
This story is just Horrible. My heart breaks for those girls.
I also wondered in what universe someone would marry a man who admitted to molesting his sisters?? I have to wonder if Josh told Anna he did “something bad” but didn’t fill in the details, much less the fact it was several of his sisters! I realize she was very young and probably also sheltered by her own family (thus possibly very naive) but still hard to believe she knew the gory details.

It’s not even a bit startling to find out that some pervert has been running a “sexual piety in the name of God organization”. A friend of mine was having difficulty realizing that he wanted to become a psychiatrist instead of an oncology doc many years ago. Why? One reason, he told me, was that it was full of crazy people. He said, “its the perfect place to hide”.
Is it the same with these religious piety anti-sex groups?
Did TLC/Discovery know? Apparently, besides the tipster who alerted Oprah’s show, there have been comments on various message boards for years. Before the Duggar’s had their show, they had a series of specials.
The police were called because Oprah’s show called them. The message boards heard the news in 2007. TLC began the regular show anyway in 2008. The cynical part of me thinks they knew and went ahead with the show anyway figuring that any publicity is good publicity.
My take on why the parents are acting so hypocritically is that in some fashion I really think they don’t believe what the son did was that wrong. They certainly don’t equate it with the type of activity that Michelle was doing the robo call about. You know, those creepy transsexuals and gays and whatnot. “Those people” are to be feared and legislated against. Our son just got a little carried away.
I also think it is reflective of the status (or lack thereof) women have in that household. There is not one mention of concern over the sisters, more time was spent mentioning that they forgave him.
Therapists and psychiatrists generally claim to work in the field, you have to be crazy lol.
As far as religion being the cause of this, I am hesitant to say it was why Josh did what he did. Extreme conservative religious beliefs like the Duggars might cause someone to be sexually frustrated and do what Josh did I suppose, but I am dubious about that. What disturbs me is this “God cured him” kind of thing, it could be Josh is not a pedophile, but if he is, you don’t get cured , especially not by praying, you learn to deal with the feelings and not act on them.
Where religion is a problem is in the reaction to things like this, especially when the person doing it is male, there is far too much of the ‘the man made a mistake’,Mike Huckabee is a piece of bat guano, a typical hypocrite. All you have to do is look at how the church treated child abuse cavalierly, in Ireland with all the horrors in schools and orphanages and the sexual abuse by priests, to see how much religious groups have dropped the ball. I know a number of victims of childhood sexual abuse, who when they told priests and personnel at parochial schools about being abused, told them to ‘pray for your father, for he is the head of the household’…
Michelle Duggar is swine, what she is referring to I assume is that Fayetteville was probably going top pass a law protecting transgender people. How the hell does she dare demonize people, call them perverts and child molesters and such, when she raised a child rapist (what Josh did was statutory rape, not to mention incest) and they covered it up, and she has to gall to judge other people who have done nothing but struggle to be themselves? People of faith go around complaining how they are being portrayed as bigots and being haters, but all they have to do is look at the Duggars and their ilk to see why people of faith are being looked at like that.
What I find inexcusable is that the Duggar parents did nothing to protect the girls of the family. When one of the girls came to them to tell them she had been repeatedly fondled by her brother, they “disciplined” him (whatever that means-it’s not specified in the police report) but got him absolutely no counseling and didn’t separate him from his sisters. It wasn’t until he fondled another sister 9 months later that they took any action at all, and that was to send him off to the work program.
