Well, I think any normal human being would step in and help a kid in trouble if they had to. However, if the Duggars are relying on the crew for child care, that’s a whole different level.
Wasn’t a gay crew member let go? Did he ever comment on how he was treated or what he observed?
There is a story online (on many may sites) that alleges that happened. And No, no comments from the crew member.
Apropos of nothing, I gotta say that I applaud Oprah’s staff for forwarding the allegations back in 2006 to the correct authorities.
I never heard that one, but it wouldn’t surprise me.
I just watched a video of a very, very well-known ‘elite liberal media’ basher, who was interviewed by Sean Hannity on Fox about her views of the Duggar case. She jumped all over the media for re-victimizing the girls and shamed them for putting them back into the fire and how horrible it was because they’re innocent and now humiliated.
Funny thing is… Fox is the only station that interviewed the girls.
I did a lot of the cooking for my huge family, and I also struggled to learn how the heck to cook for two, @rockvillemom !
Though I loved my mom a lot, she was an indifferent cook who was rarely hungry, and uninterested in childcare. That left me responsible for a lot of younger siblings, though thank goodness not 18 of them. It did feel like an unreasonable burden at the time, but you do what you have to do. In retrospect it was an unreasonable burden. I tend to feel pretty sorry for the older girls in these huge families, because I view it through my own lens of experience.
I’m wondering what kind of “licensed counselors” the girls saw who apparently did not file mandated reports with social services.
Broad and forgiving use of “licensed,” if you ask me. But the DHS records are firmly sealed.
I’ve never watched the show. Can someone explain to me how they ever pay all of the pediatrician and OB/Gyn bills - not to mention dentists? I know they have their own in-house doula team but surely they rely on trained medical professionals?

I’m guessing they, like some other public figures, may get some discount from some places for the publicity.

I know they’ve had several dull medical and dental visits profiled on the show over the last few years, so I suspect there’s some sort of promotional deal going, as the camera does tend to linger lovingly on the sign in front of the medical office.
I heard about that “buy used and save the difference” tactic and it sounds really Pollyannaish to me. I doubt you can support a family of 21 entirely by doing just that.
So what do we think is going to happen now? Will there be publicity about the Duggars’ lawsuit regarding the release of info? Will more dirt come out? Will the Duggars just fade away, now that they’re off of TLC? Will they become an issue for the upcoming Presidential campaign?
I don’t understand what ground they have to stand on. It was a legitimate FOIA request because, when the report was made, Josh was an adult. If JB had reported Josh when it happened, instead of waiting over a year, then the record might be sealed.
TMZ is reporting Josh and Anna have moved back to Arkansas - leaving the DC area after he resigned his position. They had purchased a fixer-upper in Arkansas for about $55,000 back in January. Not sure if it has been renovated yet.

I’ve never seen the show but it’s hard to not know about them if you are ever in the checkout at the market.
I really hope they just go away for good.
My mother was raised by her aunt and uncle, 8 sat down to the table every night. She only knew how to cook for 8, so she said she always knew she’d have 6 kids. And she did. I overcooked when I first started, not realizing you didn’t have to cook the entire box of spaghetti for just two people, and that it was okay to half recipes as well as double them. I learned.
So they shop at the thrift store. I did today too. I LIKE the thrift store and dislike malls very much. My kids wore uniforms to school for 7 years, and when my DD was in high school said “I miss uniforms, they were so much easier.” I would not find it a treat to go to the mall. The Duggars’ wardrobes aren’t very exciting, but neither are mine. Work days are black slacks and some kind of sweater or shirt. Casual times are polo shirts and jeans or shorts. Boring. I don’t care.
What does Michelle do all day? She has about 14 kids still at home, I’m sure she can fill the day. She’s written a book or two, I’m sure has to meet with producers and publishers. We don’t all make the same decisions about how to raise our kids. I don’t agree with all theirs, but I probably don’t agree with yours. I don’t agree with the Amish or the Kardashians either.
Why wouldn’t they have medical insurance? Most families have 4 or 5 people on the plan, but the Duggars got to have 21 on the plan, one family deductible, and the same premium as those families with only one child. What a bargain to pay the same premium for 21 as for 3! All their kids can still be on it until they are 26. Of course now insurance is required by the ADA so they have to have it.
Doctor, one used colonoscopy, please…
