Duggars in the news.

Wish they would let their immediate family stay out of the limelight. They didn’t need to post a photo, IMO. I agree with you about the privacy,RVM, but they bring this on themselves.

I still can’t help but feel sorry for all the kids involved.

Just not a fan of minor kids on reality TV . . .

Agree… hope they stay out of the limelight. There are still a lot of younger kids left in that family who wish the whole thing would go away.

Agree. They shoukd just step away from social media and live private lives.

So are the kids all expected to have dozens of children just like the Mom and Dad? No birth control allowed?

I imagine that is the belief system - leave it in G-d’s hands. Jill and Jessa were both pregnant shortly after marrying.

Do they feel the same way about seat belts?

And they’re following the tradition of having all the names start with the same letter. It makes me glad my name doesn’t start with M or J!

^I just hope they are not spreading their brand of hate around the world. Sometime it’s hard to call yourself a Christian in any way, shape or form :frowning:

I think a while back I suggested that I believe this family was motivated to do this show because it was part of God’s plan to spread the word about their faith, as opposed to people who felt they were doing it for monetary reasons.

This, was reported today in People:

http://www.people.com/article/duggars-heartbroken-over-tlc-cancellation

They don’t get it.

Well, apparently it wasn’t God’s plan, was it.

I’m an atheist, but sometimes I meet or hear of Christians who are a great advertisement for their faith. Like those Charleston families who, in court, forgave the murderer of their loved ones. Or the woman I knew who was strongly anti-abortion, so she was a foster parent to little babies, available day or night to take in a baby who needed her. I respect people like that. I think to myself, their religion is making them better people, maybe there is something in this Christianity thing.

But people who just go around yapping about how great Jesus is, without showing me anything? It’s bad evangelizing to irritate people, that’s all I have to say.

Deeds not creeds.

@cardinal:
The funny part about Christianity (I guess I read the parts of the bible many so called Christians, especially fundamentalists, don’t) is that it says the hardest part of being Christian is living into the faith, it is in how we treat people and how we live our lives and so forth. The NT says you are not supposed to use your faith as a weapon, you are not supposed to use it to hold yourself above others, yet that is what many do, the in your faith evangelists with their pronouncements how you are going to hell, the haters who use the Bible to justify treating people as subhuman, and so forth. There can be something to Christianity (or Judaism, or Islam) if they would get over the idea that believing the right things, mouthing the right things, is not the same thing as living the faith, citing scripture, claiming that God wants us all to be rich, denigrating gays or feminists or others who don’t believe the same as you, is not the faith, living into it with dignity is. There are a lot of people of faith who do that, who help people in need, who try and treat others as they would wish to be, they just aren’t the warped, twisted version that hogs the cameras and the spotlight and otherwise tries to portray themselves as ‘real Christians’, they are the Christian equivalent of Isis or the sad bunch that pass as the Catholic hierarchy in this country that turned being Catholic into being anti abortion and anti gay…you bring a lot more people to faith if you show them kindness and don’t judge, you don’t get it saying Jesus saved you 50% on your new Kitchen or telling Jews or fellow Christians they are going to hell…

Or like a married couple I know who talk a lot about their faith, but 90% of what they put on their FBs and send out to their friends is judgmental, hateful crap about anyone who thinks or lives differently than they do. Very poor Christian “witnesses” my opinion. If I were feeling a void in my life and interested in learning more about religion, their posts would completely turn me off from their version of “faith.”

Their heartbroken? How do you think we feel for their children. I don’t want to see them on tv or in the news. I wish the media would stop paying attention to them. Someone please close their twitter, instagram, and facebook so that they can no longer be in the public eye. I wish they would just lead private lives. Every time I see a family picture I get spooked knowing all those kids came from that one woman. I don’t think the body was made to handle that much torture. I wish families would adopt their children so that they would know what it is like to have a normal family life and have the right to a college education. I think this is so unfair to the young children what their parents have done. There is just so much wrong with this whole situation. The worst part is the parents find all this normal behavior.

@nrdsb4:
Exactly, they haven’t bothered to read the not so fine print in their guidebook, that is for sure.

Josiah ends courtship with Marjorie.

From the link above: “The Duggar family will appear on a TLC special devoted to assisting victims of molestation in August.”

That should be interesting. Sounds like they’re trying to redeem themselves.
