Duggars in the news.

I didn’t see any “bombshell” in that article above (why Josiah and Marjorie ended their courtship) but I’m not surprised in the wake of everything that has happened.

I still think there are ethical issues with children appearing on reality TV. Even when the intent is good, it just seems like there is too much risk of scandal, negative light, lingering reputations, etc. I would have HATED if my childhood had been on TV. And what real “say” do children have? Even if they consent, is it INFORMED consent?

Yea, that happened last week… along with scandalous engagement pictures with cousin Amy (well, scandalous by Duggars’ perspectives).

I feel kind of sad that it didn’t work out for Josiah, marriage seems to be the only way to break out into their own lives.

Actually, I think marriage, the only way the Duggars allow it, perpetuates the suppressive life the Duggars live.

Breaking out would be to find a way to support yourself, and leave the house, and preferably the state, and make your own choice for life partner - not someone mommy and daddy have basically pre-arranged for you.

Josiah and Marjorie were way too young for engagement anyway.

August 30th airdate

I’d be heartbroken if I was suddenly deprived of $75,000 per episode (which is what the internet, which is always completely accurate, tells me that Jon and Kate made for their show, so I’m using it as a baseline). Oh, and the opportunity to spread my beliefs. Yeah.

Article reports that data found in a hack of Ashley Madison accounts purports to show that Josh Duggar was a paid subscriber to this extramarital affair-finding website.

Oh, dear God… if this is true.

And if it is true (more news organizations are reporting it now), what will TLC do with their planned special at the end of the month? A big part of the girls’ stories is that they had put it all behind them and had forgiven Josh.

Is it possible someone actually set him up? Created an account with his information?

Wow! The info in that link looks pretty legit.

Looks legit, but as teri says, we don’t know he actually set it up himself.

If this was set up AFTER the molestation came to light - I would be skeptical. But this was months earlier - with a credit card address matching his real address. If someone set this up months ago to smear him - they would have leaked it then. Will be interesting to see how the Duggars handle this one.

Did the article say they traced the accounts to his cc number?

Unless he set it up for a friend using his cc number or someone stole his cc number…

Sounds like his issues might be deeper.

Wow . . . :open_mouth:

Wow, instead of stealing cc info to sell to thieves, hackers can be rolling in good dough by hacking into pervy sites, fishing for celebrity info, and selling that info to tabloids!

Wow.

I don’t think anyone set him up. It mentions that the two accounts he allegedly set up had almost the right birthday – one off by a month, one off by a day. Someone trying to set him up would have used his real birthday.

Wow.

You know, I really enjoy when self-righteous hypocrites get exposed- and this is no exception.

But like always, my heart is breaking for the kids involved in all of this. There is no reason they should be dragged through more media and family drama, but I don’t think the Duggar parents are even willing, let alone able, to stop. Just blech.

I just saw another article (on yahoo perhaps?) that suggested the Duggar parents were distancing themselves from him. I’m not sure whether that’s true, or whether it’s right for them to do that, but now I’m wondering what else they knew/know.

It is devastating for the kids. :frowning:

Yet again, this is my Exhibt “A” on why minors should not be on reality TV.

I really hope this is not true.
