Anna may believe that she gets spiritual power or elevation as a victim who forgives. But on the other hand her religion might blame her for Josh’s sins if the sins happened because she was not sexually available to him.
It could go either way.

I figure she was undoubtedly sexually available to him, because that’s what Good Wives in her culture do, but she may not have been giving him everything he was looking for. Like, adventure.

Missionaries in El Salvador back in the U.S. again - this time for cousin Amy’s wedding.
Those missionary jobs must pay quite well to cover international air fare every few weeks!
Do they have a real “job,” where they are working for some organization that is paying them and covering their expenses? Or have they just gone to El Salvador independently to proselytize?
Apparently they have their own 501c3 called Dillard Family Ministries…
If you look for Dillard Family Ministries in Little Rock, Arkansas on the IRS Publication 78 searchable website you can see it is a public charity with FEIN 47-4302759.
Jared Fogle had a public charity, too…
The Duggars specialize in soliciting donations from their fans. As far as I know - Jill and Derrick’s sole source of income is the donations. In adition to frequent flights home - pictures and blog posts show lots of toys - laptops, tablets, etc. and private language lessons.
This tradition extends to cousin Amy, who is getting married today. A few weeks back, she posted an address that her fans coukd send wedding cards and gifts to - because so many of her fans had been asking for it, lol. It was only up for a few days - she rcvd a lot of negative feedback for her obvious greed. She has recently posted how excited she is to be changing her name today and getting away from the controversial Duggar surname - yet she doesn’t miss an opportunity to post on the latest Duggar doings - so which is it? Too bad the show is canceled or her wedding would have been filmed - meaning money and attention.
Reality tv seems to be an addictive drug. The money and fame must be quite intoxicating, because they keep coming back for more - pitching new show ideas - Kate Gosselin, Honey BooBoo. And then there is the obligatory spin on Dancing with the Stars. That’s what we are missing - a Duggar on DWTS!
^^And how is that not “worldliness” @rockvillemom ? Which the Duggars claim to eschew? I think JB and Michelle believed they were justified in it because they were spreading their faith.
It’s very, very hard to resist all that comes with fame.
This is from ET online:
Dancing! Wonder how Jim Bob will handle that - we don’t want the Duggar boys getting too excited!
I actually attended a southern Baptist wedding once where they had a DJ and a small dance floor - and the bride’s father clearly did not approve (of the groom or the dancing or perhaps both) and just stood off to the side glowering the whole time.
Well, y’know, providing festive non-alcoholic drinks for people who don’t want alcohol is a great thing, and more weddings and parties should follow their example. You don’t have to be a nutcase to feel like abstaining from alcohol.
Also attended a Southern Baptist wedding-- no alcohol. No dancing. Just cake, punch and cookies. That is their wish and that is fine. Orthodox Jewish weddings don’t allow men and women to dance together. These are their traditions. Fine.
But for those who set up “ministries” that seem to serve largely to fund their lifestyle. Blech. Pit of Irony, IMO. Maybe the Duggars and Dillards should be raising money and going to the aid of that Kim Davis woman. Do they agree that you can hide behind religion to practice bigotry.
Agree completely regarding the non-alcoholic drinks - every function should offer beverage options. It’s the DJ and dancing I am wondering about. Is Jim Bob going to insist the boys stay far away so that undesirable feelings do not get stirred up! Since that approach worked so well for Josh.
I remember in one episode – a long time ago – there was music on, some of the younger boys were bouncing in time to it, and some of the older boys went to Jim Bob to report that the younger boys were dancing. Jim Bob watched them for a minute and then decided that it wasn’t dancing and that it was OK.
Pretty fine line, if you ask me. (Which Jim Bob didn’t. I never received a call.)
We had enough sparkling wine for a toast and mimosas at my (daytime) wedding. That was it. Both families are super light drinkers, so we went with what we like. We may have had some disappointed guests, but everybody made do.
I can’t imagine a wedding where nonalcoholic beverages were not served.
It’s not that non-alcoholic beverages are not served, but often at events and restaurants there are zillions of different, festive alcoholic options-- fancy drinks, a variety of wines, fifteen craft beers-- and then two kinds of boring soft drinks or something. Lots of people don’t drink alcohol, or aren’t drinking at this point in their lives. And some people don’t want to drink alcohol and would be better off if there were attractive non-alcoholic options offered that could distract them from making bad choices. So I appreciate events and venues where attractive, interesting non-alcoholic options are offered, along with the alcoholic options.
At the last 2 weddings I attended, the bartenders were very happy to make cocktails with our without alcohol. But I am sure it varies.
A Duggar on DWTS? Or how about a little person on DWTS from one of the myriad of shows on TLC?
Maybe that will be Amy’s next chapter.
