Yeah, I don’t know if I can believe that source and who knows the real story behind this siblings fortune or misfortune.
For all we know, Michelle may have helped this sis out many times in the past and just decided to cut the cord so to speak.
Do we really think they are worth millions? Maybe “millions” is not a lot when you are tending to the lives of 20-30 people (parents, kids, spouses, grandchildren…)
That’s fair, abasket. However, if I’m remembering my bible days correctly, Jesus said to give up one’s fortune to follow him. If you have it, you should give.
I’m not saying it’s advice I would follow, I just think it shows another example of cherry picking.

Actually, Jesus pretty much said that the righteous person should sell all his possessions and give the proceeds to the poor. How many people can live up to that standard?

But a family member as close as a sister strikes pretty close to home.
The other question would be - and of course this would all just be speculation - is how strong JB holds those $$$ reins of who to help out and who to not.
For all we know, they have helped her in the past. I do see the biblical references to giving.
This isn’t necessarily big bad Jim and poor little Michelle.
The entire Bible is up for interpretation! But that doesn’t stop people like the Duggars from acting as if they speak on the telephone regularly with Jesus.
I don’t disagree that Michelle should help her sister if she can, but I don’t know enough about the situation to pass judgment on it. We have no idea whether or not Michelle has tried to help her in the past and was burned.

That’s sort of what we don’t know - and can’t say we need or deserve to know - if it is big bad JB and poor Michelle.
Again for me, while I’m CURIOUS about the family lifestyle and hierarchy, where I draw the line on just being plain disgusted and angry is the hypocrisy and preaching against other lifestyles when your own house has blatant issues.
So, bringing it back to that.

She’s got a lot of siblings. Not 18 of them, admittedly, but five.
Well, five still alive. One has already died.
I’m leery of all the rag reporting. Any of us here could come up with the sort of speculation and unsubstantiated claims some make- so many “unnamed sources.”
Still, this, which was also mentioned on the show, over the years:
“According to the International Business Times, the television show was not the Duggar family’s only source of income. …are still in demand as speakers. Those appearances are not made for free and serve as a source of income for the Duggar family…they are still making money, the International Business Times notes that the Duggar family is still traveling and taking vacations…
The International Business Times also reports that the Duggar family’s social media photos show them dining out, and Jim Bob gave Michelle a custom made ring with 19 different stones as an anniversary present. That type of spending doesn’t indicate a family on the verge of financial ruin.”
They also own commercial real estate and apparently flip houses and whatever else.
Michelle is also the youngest of her siblings- closest I can find right now is the next sib is 15 years older. I don’t read anything into the Ruarks not being more on the show. Supposedly, the Duggars do visit them in Ohio, but it’s not filmed.
There was one Ruark family reunion they showed some of. And supposedly her father was on once. It’s hard to sort what’s real when the source is dubious.
I agree with you and knew there was a lot of speculation out there regarding the Duggars, but I never read it. But after the stuff with Josh came out in May, then now August, it certainly makes me consider some of those sources with a bit more credence. Obviously there are still going to be rumors, but after all this, I have to wonder what will be the next shoe to drop that was speculated on months or even years earlier.
Agree. InTouch dug deep. But the rest of them seem to just be swirling the same stuff,looking for their moment. Eg, the notion the Duggars are desperate. Or that Jessa is mad she doesn’t get her own birth show or that the young Dillards have a fake ministry.
If they were fairly new to this dramatic turn in their faith before their TV show, by that I mean less than 10 years, I wonder if the reality show paying them for their radical beliefs prolonged or encouraged them all to tow the line. Once the cameras and magazines go away will all the kids continue to be as attached to this extreme belief system?

In the front pew of people, a couple of older ladies are sitting next to JimBob; one of them is his mom. I wondered who the other lady was sitting next to her.
Also, if you want go to such great lengths to have your first kiss in private, why do you have a photographer there?
