That’s why it is attracting attention - only 2 Bates boys were there - not the family. Amy Duggar is not believed to have a relationship with the Bates family. So the speculation is that a Bates boy is in a courtship with a Duggar girl, and the other Bates boy was along as a chaperone/accountability partner.
It’s just fun speculation, who knows. Amy Duggar has Nashville dreams and so does Lawson - so maybe he was an invited guest.
I saw elsewhere someone comment that it seemed a little odd that the kids would be allowed to dress up like a pirate to get free donuts but that they aren’t allowed to celebrate Halloween. Dunno??
@abasket, prohibitions on Halloween are usually based on avoidance of the occult or “satanic” practices (think devils and witches). I don’t think dress up, per se, is verboten, although I’m guessing the sexy nurse costume is frowned upon in these circles.
In my quick search for Duggar/Halloween I happened to come across this and am now choking on my coffee… (even though I’m not drinking coffee…)
For example, the Duggars postpone hand-holding until they’re engaged and save the first kiss for marriage.
But once married, they believe that the woman in the relationship should always be available for sex.
‘Anyone can fix him lunch, but only one person can meet that physical need of love that he has, and you always need to be available when he calls,’ Michelle told Today.com in February.
^^^That is probably the worst part of what they believe in, out of all the hundreds of nonsense rules they abide by. Women do not exist solely for men’s desires and needs (well, and baby making also). That is the camp JimBob, Josh, and all the son-in-laws have bought into. I’m sorry, there is SOOOO much wrong with this. What happens if you’re two months pregnant, throwing up every other hour, and your husband wants some nooky. Can’t say no, or otherwise poor superior male might think he has no way to deal with his physical need to show love for you.
I think when a woman feels she has no option but to say yes every time, or be ostracized, it’s borderline rape. These women truly do not see any other options available in their lives.
But we do know that Anna said she partially blamed herself for Josh’s infidelity. She must feel guilty about not always being “available”, most likely because she’s so often pregnant or newly postpartum. I don’t know which is worse, the dictate itself or women feeling guilty and responsible for not buying into it 100%!
I don’t care how often he asks. Or how often she asks. It is not in my realm of thinking to think that either partner “should always be available for sex”.
