Duggars in the news.

And another update, with some interesting info on how the Duggars view Catholics. I never cease to be amazed by their unwavering belief that their religion is correct and everyone else is wrong.

I’m as impressed as the next person at how InTouch hit the original bullets. But we’re taking a lot here on faith that sources like ibtimes and inquisitr have it right. “Insiders?” “Sources?” Maybe. But maybe not.

Just yesterday video was posted of Anna’s kids Michael and Mackenzie at what I believe is the JB and M homestead out playing touch football with the whole Duggar clan - so it would surprise me if Anna was not there also. But who knows?

Two of Anna’s kids are pirated-up for free donuts in that group picture.

It’s interesting to be a Catholic homeschooling family in an evangelical-type homeschooling community (though the secular homeschooling community has grown a great deal).

I am under the impression that various family members are speaking to the media as unnamed sources. There are also neighbors and community members in both Arkansas and pretty much any Duggar locale who take photos of them and post on various Duggar discussion sites. Plus the Duggars post on social media constantly - they all have blogs, FB, etc. - including posting photos of the children and their general whereabouts.

A grain of salt is always good, but the reporting has been pretty accurate.

Yeah, Jessa is back in full swing on Instagram.

Here we go - TLC to resume filming. Specials featuring Jill and Jessa are in the works.

I don’t want to defend Josh too much, but doesn’t pretty much everybody in the world who isn’t a Catholic think that some Catholic beliefs are wrong?

All TLC cares for is money. I hope their show gets cancelled.

Once again, we see a failure to acknowledge one of the destructive sides of reality TV and that is the exposure of minors to public notoriety which they may or may not want down the road.

I wish Jill and Jessa would think long and hard before they drag their kids into the public eye. I know it’s tempting, especially when they’re small and so cute, and don’t care much either way.

I still believe that Josh’s issues were not helped whatsoever by the Duggar show, and the subsequent fame. And this is coming from somebody who loved their show.

Of course, even most Catholics believe some things are wrong about their church (which is why so many of them leave), but most of them aren’t out publicly denouncing other Christian religions for different beliefs. I can’t think of any other show that is currently airing whose main purpose is to ‘share’ with their viewing audience how perfect their religion is. Some might say Sister Wives is sort of like that (I’ve not really watched it), but I’ve never seen complaints that the people on that show are dissing other Christian religions.

I don’t watch a lot of TV anymore, so if there are reality shows where the stars are promoting theirs and only their religion as the one way to heaven, I’m not aware of them.

THIS!!!

^^I assume that money is the main motivating factor since Jill, Jessa and their spouses do not have steady employment.

I suppose TLC has done its research, but I have to think a huge portion of the former Duggar viewing audience is fed up to the ears with this family’s hypocrisy and lies and had no desire to follow these two dull and ignorant women and their families. It was one thing to marvel at a houseful of 19 kids, but Jessa and Jill et al. have nothing to offer.

I like to think you are right MommaJ, but just as we have enjoyed talking about them for 117 pages, people will be tempted to carry on the curiosity on the television as well - perhaps they will scowling the whole time, but they may still tune in!

I just assumed they had a big fan following enough that TLC considered a show despite all the negative publicity.
I don’t see what the girls have to offer that would be worth watching. What have they accomplished? If they weren’t related to the Duggar family would anyone even recognize them? It is ironic that Jessa’s husbands family is critical of the Duggar family because he is recognized by marrying their daughter otherwise no one would be asking him to be part of the show.

I’ll bet they will mix in some of the other kids with the footage - hanging out at Jessa’s house, etc. Or, “mom and dad had to go away for a weekend to speak about family values so Ben and I are taking care of the kids at their house!”

Here’s what I want to see - a show that shows Jana heading off to a college of her choice and having the freedom to blend in with the other young adults her age who want to learn and have fun! Think “BIg Fat Greek Wedding” when Tula started going to community college and how she gradually fit in. THAT would be good tv!

A show embracing education and working towards goals and making something of yourself. Showing women trying to be the best that they can be. There is an initiative that I have become aware of called “Girls Rising” which encourages parents to educate their daughters. The message is that if she studies she will fly. (translating the message) Meaning she can become financially independent and has the power to make choices for herself and not be powerless due to lack of education. This initiative was to encourage a women’s education not that her sole purpose was to get married and have babies.

I’m sure money was a big part of the decision, but that’s my point. Look where that got Josh.
