@shockazulu: yeah, it’s more organized if people are constantly changing names or addresses. if the system is left alone, its better

Can someone link me to the application status website? I only have it favorited on my other computer.

I have no idea when this will be statistically significant. I’ll do some regressions later for fun on this information but it will be useless without probably at least 30 or so posters in each group, each with an answer to their anticipation (or lack thereof) of acceptance.

That probably won’t happen, but this at least gives us something to do.

@Nosike

<a href=“Student Information Services and Systems | Duke”>Student Information Services and Systems | Duke;

no, you need at least 40 people to have a sample that’s representative of the population…10 from each option

@gtracyiphone: It’s not like people are changing this information for fun. If someone has to change info, you can’t just deny them that ability to prevent stress on the system. The only people that would be changing that kind of information would do it regardless of interface (because they have to), so to facilitate organization you would give them the online interface. It’s probably easier to parse the data into the database that way anyway because people don’t have to manually enter in changes.

Is everybody seriously obsessing over a tab?!

Duke really needs to hurry up with those decisions before we start discussing something even more ridiculous…

thanks Wicked.

Can someone explain what the tabs thing is?

Has tab/anticipates acceptance (y/n):
shockazulu: n
MW2isawesome: y (or deferral)
Alphagirl: n
misspandaz:
hgblue:
emilymh1993:
dke2011

No tab:
krogstad123:
cheekboy34:not at all ):
Optomistic4Ivy:
gtracyiphone:maybe
elitesrbluecheer: no

@gtracyiphone: That’s an arbitrary number, idk how you came up with that (mine was a guess-I stated so). I don’t know how many I would need at this point. In reality I would probably need like 100 or something, but that won’t happen.

@gtracyiphone

I by no means consider myself a shoe-in, however I would be surprised if I was outright rejected. I would give myself something like: 50% chance accept, 35% deferral, and 15% rejection.

I have very strong test scores (2340 and 34), perfect grades (valedictorian), excellent reccs/essays, decently good EC’s, and am from a pretty under represented state. I just felt that my application was pretty darn solid as a whole…

@shockazulu: I highly disagree with you man. But who knows. We both might be right in some way or another. haha, just watch both of us getting accepted.

@gtracyiphone: That would be very nice indeed.

Umm gonna ask again… someone explain the tab thing please?

okay look:

accepted: you’ll have to resend all this info for housing and the 2011 FASFA, no need for the tab.

declined: the lack of updated tab means no new mailing address? how are they gonna mail you your declining letter?

deffered: this tab and website isnt even used for decisions…does it really matter?

seriously thinking we’re just paranoid and over analyzing and this means nothing!

Not a chance thread

I came up with a number that was statistically significant. You don’t necessarily have to have 100s of entrees. I calculated myself as having a 48% acceptance rate because of the things i’ve done for duke. but who knows…

Yes, in all likelihood the tab means nothing at all and is an artifact of server maintenance/changes.

agreed no chance stuff guys…

@MW2: Duke outright declined our validictorian two years running, doesnt mean it cant happen to anyone.
