ohh nice nice, im in sandusky

A good friend of mine just got into Cornell! Ahhh now the wait is on for the 2 Dukes (me and another friend), 3 MITs, 2 Georgetowns, and 1 UChicago. Def gonna be a strug these next few days…

i’m nervous about us ohioman… the stats i was given at a meeting at duke university said that about 54 ed kids get in from ohio

yeah hah im nervous as well, i know i should have applied myself more in high school, the only reason im not 100% settling on a deffer or rejection is the fact im a legacy (grandpa, dad undergrad and MHA, and my sisters a junior there)… besides that id have to say im just about average for a duke applicant… but ive kinda prepared myself for the worst, that way im not disappointed

omg, i’m in exactly the same boat as you. I only have my dad’s legacy riding for me. my sat’s are almost average for duke. i just hope that the ec’s and some extra stuff i did by duke’s request works out. We’ll know soon though. I just have to prepare myself to think positively if things don’t work out.

yeah thats how i am, my ACT is average for duke, i sucked up the SAT when i took it so i just decided ACT is the way to go… where else are you looking to apply?

Um just out of curiosity…what’s the “average” ACT for Duke? I know they give that 30-34 range but I just wanna see what yall have haha.

I have a 33 btw, 34 “superscored”

i was looking at chicago and columbia…but those are pretty lofty too. i only have like osu and u of m done. I haven’t even started the others. so it’s duke or one bad christmas. I only applied to duke early because i felt i had a decent shot.

I’m relying on athletics to get me in so hopefully they have a lot of pull.

i have 32 and 33 superscored and yeah i just sent out Boston College, Vandy, and WUSTL because they didnt have any essays, so im in your boat, ill be doing essays this christmas vacation if i dont get in

how much weight does legacy have for duke do you think?

Duke seems to give more weight to legacy than some other schools. However, as it says on their website, it definitely does NOT make or break an applicant.

that’s nice.

ive read that it helps more at duke than at other schools, my sister says that she knows someone who got in with a 26 on their ACT because of legacy, musta been a hell of a legacy haha… my sister’s roomate volunteers in admissions (the 12th family member of hers to go to duke) and she says its very rare for duke legacy members to get rejected from ED, they are mostly either accepted or deffered

dont listen to the website… obviously they are gonna say whatever most people wanna hear… they also say they dont look at financial aid but id be damned if they didnt, why are their numbers of financial aid student always within a few points? you cant tell me random picking get you to that haha

thanks dad!..well i don’t know it’ll help that much for me. He only went for an mba. i’m hoping that’s enough for them to consider me.

God damnit why did my parents go to Harvard and Stanford

argh why are other schools finding out today or tomorrow and not us :(

i REALLY wish i’d had the weekend to either lock myself in my room or celebrate like crazy…

I know! So many people from my school received good news today, and it only makes me more nervous.

It sounds like so many of you are legacies! I have no such hook, and it worries me :(

yeah I’m not a legacy either ![]()
But a legacy has to start somewhere.
