Duke and Vanderbilt application help

I’m very interested in going to these schools and I was wondering if people that got in could let me know how they think they got in-- like was there anything in particular that helped a lot. Are there any secrets to being accepted (contacting people from the school or taking certain classes or doing certain programs)? Is there anything else I should know about the admission process at both schools?

Thanks in advance

Oh, and if you all got into either of the schools, CONGRATS you’re amazing!!

There is an open secret. Learn the content of high school classes, read the text and whatever else is required, complete all assignments on time, understand studying and memorizing are significantly different. College entrance exams are designed to measure the degree to which you master skills and content across academic. You have four years to study for these tests!!! Don’t spend time and money attempting to learn high school content as these tests approach. If you delay learning you will force yourself to learn high school content fast without knowing what will be on the content you will encounter on the test. Your time and money would be at least as well spent by reading broadly and learning test taking skills. Learn how to write!!! It is infinitely better to gather points for known content than encounter question after question without apparent correct answers. Don’t be stupid by drinking, cheating, taking drugs, speeding, texting while driving and other things that could jeopardize your life or call compromise your application to college. There are plenty of posts from students who damaged there long term opportunities for a few minutes of fun.
