My D is on waitlist at Duke. Does anyone know when will Duke start looking at waitlist? Thank you.

In early- to mid-May (soon after the 1 May “confirm matriculation” notification deadline); however, that process will normally continue through June (and, to a far lesser degree, into July).

In previous years they’ve taken some off the list the last week of April, before the May 1 deadline, and then some more after May 1.

I personally know of one student who was admitted off the Duke wait-list. I think he was notified sometime the first week of May. This continues on in the summer as well, however the biggest movement off the WL will be within the first 1-2 weeks. Good luck

Does anyone know approx how many are currently on this year’s Class of 2019 waitlist? And compared to recent years at Duke, how % many are accepted off this list? Thanks for the insight - S is trying to gauge options before May 1 commit date.

Any chance some waitlist decisions will come out today. I know historically they have this week.

@nocollegebadness I would imagine you’d need to wait after May 1st to hear anything about the waitlists as some posters above alluded to.

Checking waitlist threads from previous years on CC,
Class of 2018- April 29th (Tuesday)
Class of 2017- April 29th(Monday)
Class of 2016- April 27th (Friday)

Looking at these, I thought there’d be a chance it comes out soon.

I talked to an admissions officer and they said they wouldnt be looking until after may 1

I sent my admissions officer a letter of interest and he never responded back and I know it didn’t bounce back.

I’ve got to think that “accept rate” is up if Duke has to wait until the final numbers are in to determine their need–unlike the last several years.

I heard they are closing their waitlist due to over-enrollment. Did anyone else hear that?

over-enrollment…It wouldn’t surprise me with the National Championship and all.

I have no inside information and I have not yet received this year’s undergraduate admissions numbers. However, I would be VERY surprised if post #16 were correct. For this to be true, Class of '19 yield would have to increase by several percent from the recent trend-line; that would be quite unusual, although – institutionally – it would be a fine thing for Duke.
