S rejected - looks like Vandy, Emory, or…tomorrow…
I started a thread for people to share their stats and whatnot.
Hey guys I was rejected as well but I want an opinion, because I really do want to attend Duke so I was thinking of taking a gap of 6 months and reapply for the spring session, in that gap I will probably work on my essays, travel and definitely improve my SAT score, I just wanted to know will reapplying and taking a gap of 6 months affect my decision
@lowsatguy no its not worth the risk reapplying and giving up all the other schools you got into. I think transfer would be a much safer option.
@Eeeee127 yeah thanks man hopefully I will apply as a transfer student, does anyone here knows about the acceptance rate of transfer students, I hope I get accepted as a transfer student IA
Accepted with $73,000 in financial aid! Still can’t believe it.
31 on ACT (didn’t have the money to take it twice), 4.98 GPA
And lots of incredible essays/recommendations
@GeorgeX Let us all know where you end up going?! We hope so bad you pick Duke! My son is going and what a privilege to be in the same class with someone as inspiring as you.
I’m a little late but, waitlisted with a 1290 SAT, 26 ACT, 4.47 W, 3.7 UW, and good ECs, beyond happy to have a chance at Duke!!
@lowsatguy contact the schools you have been accepted to to see if you can defer enrollment. Most schools will let you do it for a year. I am in a similar situation.
@victoriaxv19 congratulations, that’s not a bad outcome with your scores! I can only hope for the same for ivy day
You are too good for duke; colleges (not HYPMS) reject top applicants, accepting Only the students likely to enroll
@ghvan99 thank you man, yeah sure will do that, hey how many schools have you been accepted too
@Tinna51 Colleges never do such kind of thing. They would of course want the best students to come to their school. Moreover, DUKE is no less than any of the ivys. It’s just that Duke is not an ivy(member of the collegiate athletic conference).
So excited to have been accepted into Duke and congratulations to the applicants that got in! Although I’m beyond thrilled about my acceptance, I’m in a bit of a dilemma. I did not apply financial aid because my parents don’t believe that colleges are need-blind, but now that I’ve been accepted, I can’t afford to attend. Is there any way to apply for financial aid after getting accepted? Does anybody know the financial aid process?
@Striver17 Contact financial aid immediately. You need to do the FAFSA, no matter which school you attend. I don’t want to start anything, but this is really your parents’ responsibility to handle. You did your part and the financial paperwork and maneuvering should be theirs. Congratulations and I hope this works out for you!
Do admits get a free shirt? or do we have to commit first
Hi all! Has anyone accepted received their packet in the mail yet? Also if you are going to be a member of Duke’s Class of 2021 hmu on Instagram! (Christinaholloway_)
Hi guys! I want to attend BDD. Anyone here attending? Which days? Would love to make new friends so feel free to PM me if you want to find each other! Would be fun playing hide 'n seek at Hogwarts–I mean, Duke.
Yes! Finally someone realizes Duke is actually Hogwarts.
@DukeShama
Just got accepted to the Washington Duke Scholars Program. Decked out financial aid package with all sorts of additional guidance and mentorship outlets (in addition to the fact that I am also a Questbridge scholar). Transportation expenses are covered. I get a free laptop. I even get money to pay for professional activities like buying interview clothing and traveling to fairs and interviews. Not paying a damn penny for anything. Looks like I’ll be calling Duke home now.
Go Blue Devils!
