Speaking of which, does anyone know what kind of laptop Duke would give me? I’ve saved up over three grand to spend exclusively on big tech purchases like laptops, tablets, and software. Questbridge also gave me a $700 grant to buy anything from Apple with. I’m pretty loaded if I do say so myself. I just don’t want to be forced to downgrade to an older laptop when I can get a new one myself. Maybe they’ll cover some of the cost? I don’t know…
Congrats on Washing Duke Scholar. It says “brand new laptop” so I don’t think you’ll have to downgrade.
^ You should call and ask. I’m sure they will let you buy what ever you want and reimburse you (but there may be a $ cap on the reimbursement amount).
wheres dook
Thanks for the info. Dook is in North Carolina @blackhawk88.
Is anyone on campus from the 15th-19th? I’d love to meet some of you. (Pfrosh here)
@Gnarling yo i’ll be there hah- you going for the Blue Devil Days?
@MCurie Yup yup!
I just got off the waitlist, Pratt Engineering 2021!
@jakobk How exciting! Congratulations! My son is finishing his first year in Pratt and loves it.
@jakobk on pg 101 of this thread you posted: 03-29-2017 at 7:43 pm
“Rejected at Pratt. 36 ACT, 4.0 UW GPA, 800 Math 2, work at NASA, good essays because Duke is my dream school… Okay, admissions. I see how it is.” Explanation?
As I explained on the waitlist thread, I considered it as good as rejection. Only 40-80/~1000 get off the waitlist. But here’s my email from the Dean of Admissions:
Dear -----:
Thank you so much for your quick response to ----’s email about our waiting list. I very much appreciate it, and am pleased to share some very good news with you.
Later today I will begin the process of formally offering you admission to Duke’s Class of 2021. By this evening you should be able to log on to your application portal and see the letter of admission. The “Respond to offer” tab on the portal will provide instructions on how to respond to our offer. While we require a response to our offer of admission within a week, I hope you will be able to respond sooner; that will allow us to better understand how many more students we might be able to admit.
A packet of information will also be sent to you later this week, which will contain all of the information you need to prepare for your enrollment at Duke this fall.
I appreciate your interest, and look forward to welcoming you to Duke in August!
And congratulations!
Sincerely,
Christoph Guttentag
Dean of Undergraduate Admissions
Duke University
