I don’t think it will mean anything in the long run; i’ll post my decision for future applicants so they know
@Lizzie1234 i understand that logic but is there no concrete proof like a link or statement that IDOC costs money for colleges. I think you are right but I am just curious about concrete evidence.
Just saying, I never got any sort of FA notification email for Penn but I somehow got in- and, I was missing FA document stuff the whole time! There may be some correlation between FA stuff on the portal and admittance but it’s certainly not 1:1 or a guarantee by any means. So don’t stress: we might as well just wait out the next few hours.
Why drag this issue? i don’t think it’s necessary@mmish321
I was selected as a Robertson Semifinalist this year, but I did not move on to finals. I preferred Duke on the application, but they did not indicate if I was a semifinalist for a specific school or not. Does anyone know if thats a good sign for admission?
@Mmrosa The reason I’m dragging this out is because all of this is based on speculation about how IDOC operates. If we get concrete information we can put this to rest and provide clarity for future applicants that’s all
It’s true kiddos. No need to get hysteric and displace your saltiness onto me. I didn’t reject you, I’m just the messenger with a helpful scoop.
@collage99 your post history says you’re rich and don’t qualify for financial aid at Penn. And nobody claimed this scoop worked at Penn; their portal isn’t like Duke’s, Brown’s, Notre Dame’s, et al. Penn has you submit forms directly to them, not College Board like most others.
Lol, let’s just wait till 7pm ET folks
@lizzy1234 okay sorry. I’m probably headed to Pitt regardless because none of these schools are realistically financially feasible for me and my family’s situation, so I think I’m just going to stop hanging around CC. Good luck to all
So with this FA thing is the request from Duke FA specific to their institution?? Or is it something that another college could have requested prior to as well as something that most folks who read all the instructions would have submitted. We submitted docs back in October for even our RD schools and almost all the schools reached out within a couple weeks asking for information, including schools where we were rejected.
Is the IDOC thing the same for Johns Hopkins. Because all the forms I turned in were checked, but I was still rejected.
Is this IDOC thing actually true? I don’t want to get my hopes up too high…
The IDOC checkmarks don’t mean auto-acceptance. But lacking checkmarks does seem to mean auto-reject.
How do you see your financial aid checklist? Can someone post a link to the login?? The OneLink site where we view our admissions is unavailable until 7pm
Also, this might be a HUGE stretch but about a week ago I received notification that a college financial aid officer had changed a part of my FAFSA that they could only knowingly change if they had access to my parents’ W-2s from IDOC. It was an anonymous college, which means that I hadn’t gotten a decision yet, and I figured that I had been accepted somewhere otherwise they wouldn’t have bothered. I was waitlisted at all of my IDOC schools and it is new info to me that Duke uses IDOC. Does this sound remotely promising???
@lesjubilants It’s too late to check your Duke financial aid checklist, but on the plus side we have less than 3 hours left to get our decision.
@iam4uf1 Same! They send a letter to whatever schools you indicated you were interested in attending. I took it as another demonstration of interest, and an endorsement. I think it would be hard to reject a Robertson semifinalist, not because they are semifinalists per say, but because we have done really remarkable things that got us that far in the competition. REALLY hoping for this one tonight after being waitlisted from all of my super duper elite schools and not applying to more mid-range elite schools (Tufts, Hopkins) that I could still brag about lol
Did anybody else only have CSS and FAFSA on your checklist?
I had everything
i never found the checklist but duke requested docs bc they’re in my list of idoc schools. Also: I got into Vanderbilt with large aid package without them being listed on my IDOC schools list, so they couldn’t have had those docs. I know every school is different, but I believe at least a few people break the mold and get in without IDOC requests…
