I believe the Dec 20 deadline no longer applies this year. The website says for the year 2024-2025, the priority deadline is Dec 20 to get an interview. I learned about this on Reddit.
The 24-25 Undergraduate Instruction Bulletin still mentions December 20th as the deadline for getting an interview. This bulletin is not easily found on their website, I happened across it when âgooglingâ about Duke interviews because I was worried that my kid hadnât been contacted yet. 2024-2025 is the current application year (priority deadline of Dec 20 2024 for fall 2025 admission).
My D submitted her app later than Dec 20 deadline, but got an interview late Jan.
Yes, as I said up thread my kid got an interview this week and I said that Duke has obviously moved beyond the priority interviews as a response to someone else who said their kid had received an interview even thought they submitted after Dec 20. Someone asked me why I thought my kid was a lower priority for interviews, and I explained we didnât submit by the priority deadline that Duke clearly states. They donât state that kids who submit after Dec 20 definitely wonât get an interview, but they prioritize kids who submit prior to that.
May I ask on which day your kid submitted his application? Thank you.
Make sense. My D submitted app last minute. No interview yet
I donât recall the exact date, but after Christmas.
My applicant had an interview late January and submitted the day before the deadline. Weâve been told by numerous sources that getting an alumni interview is more based on the availability of an alum in your area to do the interview vs strength of the candidate, and that Duke and other institutions use alumni interviews partly as a way to keep alums engaged. If you look on Reddit there are lots of Duke students who never had interviews, so please donât sweat it if you/your child didnât get one.
A friendâs checklist has disappeared. He was deferred from ED
Is that bad
I was deferred as well, but its still there for me (both the application materials and finaid one); it might just be a glitch or maybe hes set?
Set as in?
as in being accepted and good to go, is there anyone else you that is in a similar situation?
Nope
Afaik
Is there a source for what you are saying?
âmaybeâ implies speculation, I was just wondering as well my bad
I was deferred from ED and both of my application checklists are still there.
Does anyone know if it means anything if your tax return is marked as waived & the CSS/FAFSA are the only other things on the fin aid portal? I saw other people had really long lists of received documents while I have just those 3
I think itâs waived if itâs obvious you donât qualify for financial aid. My daughter also had it waived â she applied ED and was deferred.
I donât think it matters at all. I have a total of 11 items of my financial aid checklist (3 of which were added after I got deferred). They only list the documents they need to calculate your financial aid. If they donât need more documents they wonât ask for any and will probably waive them.
My portal has fafsa, parent federal tax return, css, and parents W2 form. FAFSA is still awaiting, but the others are marked as received (the parent tax return and W2 were sent thru IDOC request).
