Duke Class of 2029 Official Thread

(I am RD with interview)

Where do you see this? Is everyone discussing this menu?

My last update was 3/12, one of my docs is waived tho.. No interview

I know there has been multiple mentions of the different departments. Operationally wouldn’t it make more sense for the Financial Aid office to only work on files for students that have been admitted or waitlisted? Otherwise the Financial Aid office would have to work on 10 times as many files as they need to.

Yes. docs updated = accept usually. Waived = reject

FYI, a few years ago when my older D applied, Idocs were updated, which we took as a very positive sign. She was waitlisted and ultimately rejected.

This time we did not apply for FA, so can’t comment on any updates this year.

Good luck everyone.

Yeah i think when your SAI from FAFSA is like several factors multiplied by $100,000 they waive looking at it, cuz they know you are full pay. Why waste time.

What’s SAI? I just know I don’t qualify

Yes. But there’s no way to determine if an update means accept. There’s a post indicating their student was updated then rejected. We have one at Duke and there was no updates. I have another awaiting decision and no updates nor waived info, simply ā€œ received ā€œ info checked.

has there been any astro for duke in past years?

Student Aid Index - the number the govt calculates you can afford based on your income, tax data you provided, assets. When they say your SAI is $200k, $300k, $400k you arent getting any need based aid even for ivy level tuition costs.

How do you check when Duke accessed your Idoc?

I understand that portal astrology is fun, however, in the past there are numerous examples in old threads that show IDOC and any other updates have zero correlation with acceptance. People have had multiple updates and have been rejected , and people have no updates and get accepted. Same with WL, defer , etc etc. It means nothing.

Yes. Under my son’s financial aid checklist. he has more items than yours. Parent federal tax , w2 , all the schedules and student w2 in addition to CSS and FAFSA and the dates received. He received an interview late Feb.

My checklist is full (Parent business tax, W2, K-1s) and has been updated to 3/18. However Duke also had be submit a verification form in the beginning of March. I don’t know if that’s a good omen or not.

My DD’s IDOC dashboard does not list Duke while several other schools she applied were listed from the get go when we created her IDOC account. I am not clear whether all schools requiring parents tax info will be listed on the dashboard. Does anyone have any insight on this? Thanks!

I submitted that too but let me make sure it was for Duke, I’ll reply to this in a minute

Nevermind it was for another institution.

Update about decision date: the email said BY March 31, so it could very well come out during Ivy day as expected.

This is a post from Reddit:

ā€œ heres what an email said to my counsellor:

I| I| |This event will be recorded and available on our YouTube channel in about a week’s time. We plan to post decisions for our Regular Decision and Early Decision-deferred applicants by Monday March 31. Once we determine the exact date, we will email all applicants with instructions on how to log into their accounts so they can access their decision. Decisions will be posted on Slate.org the following day for school counselors and advisors. We look forward to talking with you! You work hard to advocate for your students, navigating college admissions processes that result in decisions that have become increasingly difficult to understand. While we can’t guarantee that Duke’s decision process will be any more predictable than others, we want to assure you that we remain committed to fully evaluating every application and considering all our applicants as the complex young people they are. With that in mind, we invite you to join us for our annual March counselor webinar. In this webinar, we will share more specific information on our Regular Decision applicant pool and selection process. We also want to address your questions; we invite you to submit questions in advance using the link below.
