Duke Class of 2030 Official RD Thread

This is the official discussion thread for Duke Class of 2030 RD applicants. Ask your questions and connect with fellow applicants.

Hi When does RD come out? Late March?

End March/Early April. Looongggg time to wait..!!!

thank you

Does anyone have any information about Duke Interviews during the application process? We just received an interview invite with an alum.

Duke alum here with S24 current Duke sophomore and D26 admitted ED.
The interview is very laid back and much more of a conversation than a “grilling” of your student. It’s a chance for them to show what really lights them up and what they are excited about both now and heading into college. Also a good idea to freshen up on their “why Duke” statement.

They should also come prepared with ?s for the interviewer about specific Duke programs, , their experience etc.

It’s definitely not a make or break thing but can offer insight about your child in the application process . I’d go into it prepared
But more ready to have a conversation about yourself, goals and how Duke can be a good fit.

Hi, I got a duke interview and I was just wondering that how important or how big of a sign is a duke interview this late for an intl that is not in the U.S. and from a school that has never send any of the students to an ivy or Top 20. Moreover, my interviewer told me that she did interviews in NY and she just got some additional names and I was one of them.

I know Harvard and Yale pre screens, but what about duke ?

Hi!
Duke does not pre-screen.
They offer interviews in regular decision to students where they are hoping to learn a little more. It’s neither a positive or negative. I would just be yourself and not stress either way. I know, easier said than done.

Oh okay, but i was just confused that why would they interview me this late (7th march) and also for an intl student living in the other corner of the world? They could have used that spot for someone they were looking to admit

Did anyone else’s Duke financial aid documents get pulled twice? I got IDOC request and they all originally said 3/3 on the Duke FA portal. Today they were switched to 3/12.

As I started Duke does not assign interviews based on “who they want to admit.” They do their best to learn as much as they can about each applicant. So getting an interview (or not) or the timing of the interview doesn’t hold any significance.

Keep in mind Duke decision day was 3/31 last year. That’s still nearly 3 weeks away! They likely have not yet finalized anything.

No but she got a verification request at the end of Feb and docs were pulled 3/6.

I don’t think there’s much to it except that Duke’s process involves double-checking all of the financials before committee and/or class shaping.

Got it! Thanks

Oh huh I was just poking around and the docs that had shown a 3/6 date now show a 3/12 date :woman_shrugging:

I noticed a weird update in the financial aid page for Duke as well. The dates for the documents says 2/26 (before it said december, which is when I submitted my app and everything). It also says my parent federal tax return is waived with a grey checkmark, but i swear all the cehckmarks were green before. I doubt it means anything though. I’ve gotten rejected from many top schools and Duke is the best school I applied to. Weird tho!

Is there a date yet for decision?

same happened to me, plus my fafsa wsa redownloaded today

On this College Kickstart site it says 3/31
