I am an international applying to Duke. Therefore, I need to send them my TOEFL score. Only today did I remember about sending TOEFL scores. Apparently, my scores will not be sent until 2nd January, and delivery time is 7-10 days. Thus, the arriving date would be well after the application and SAT score deadline. Am I in trouble? Duke only says that SAT score deadline is 1 Jan but says nothing about TOEFL score deadline.

You’re probably okay (although, obviously, this error should not have occurred). Application readers generally do not begin their evaluation until a “package” is complete. Further, Duke recognizes that it may take a few weeks for required documentation (semester grades, standardized test results, etc.) to be received and integrated. This will likely work in your favor. I suspect it means your application will be initially assessed a few weeks after the “1 January group,” which will neither advantage nor disadvantage you. The foregoing is only a “best guess;” I could find no definitive policy information regarding this issue.

Just a note: TOEFL is NOT mandatory for international students–if you already have strong SAT scores / have been studying for several years at an institution whose primary language of instruction is English.
