Duke ED Class of 2020 Applicants Discussion Thread

All of you guys have killer SAT II scores… But did Duke take them? I was told multiple times by multiple admissions officers to not bother sending them because I was submitting the ACT…

Yes I was worried about that as well but my SAT subject tests are displayed. Will Duke ever release the number of ED applications received? Last year the Chronicle did 11-5

@Mylifeisamess19 I only sent in my ACT and I was told the same (granted I wouldn’t have sent SAT II anyway) but that sending them would just be a waste of my money and not to send them. As far as I know though they’re purely supplemental/optional if you do send them

@Lift35 haha good, I haven’t even taken them yet. Poor planning on my part but taking math 2 and lit in December just in case Duke doesn’t work out

when I contacted them, they said Duke will look at your subject tests if you send your SAT I, even if your ACT is higher. If you don’t send the SAT I to accompany them, they do not look at the subject tests.

im not gonna get in

im so sad

Why is that? @devilish123

Please refrain from speaking negatively about your interviewer. We are not dumb. We can figure out who you are based on your comments. Be careful.

Have they released any news on how many applicants there are this time around? I believe they already had by this time last year. Wonder if applicant pool decreased (as was the case last year) or increased.

I do not think they release that information until afterwards

When I check the application portal, I am unable to see the “checklist” that once outlined all of my materials (Common application, ACT Scores, Letter of Recs, etc.) and whether they have been submitted. Anyone else experiencing this?

@Resonated I can’t see the checklist anymore either.

@Resonated
@lookingto
maybe you guys just turned in every required material?
Or did it just disappear without a reason?

I think it’s because we turned in everything on time. It says “you do not have any to-do’s at this time”.

@devilish123 stop thinking that way!

A couple of questions,

  1. Does Duke value 3rd generation legacies over a double or single legacy? (Both Dad and Grandfather went undergrad and grad at Duke)
  2. ACT Comp score was a 32, but my reading sub score was a 36. Comp is slightly under Duke average, but will a perfect sub score in one area make up for that?
  3. What time on December 15 will they release decisions?
    Thanks in advance for all of the help!

did anyone get their fin aid profile ticked in their app check list?

I have the CSS profile ticked off.
