Duke ED Class of 2020 Applicants Discussion Thread

@Gausssss wow it’s earlier for like an hour? several minutes?

@kittykatty119 thanks

I think last year the results came out around 6pm.

Have you guys started working on the regular decision application yet?

@Gausssss I haven’t. Banking on Duke, but idk if I’ll get in, so I should probably start.

Do you all think they are done making decisions now?

@Gausssss Most of mine are common app schools so i don’t have to do much to finish them

I just realized something that’s freaking me out. I applied EA to a safety school prior to submitting my app to Duke and I had a self reported SAT score on the app and I turned that in to Duke. However I sent an official score report of just my 33 ACT w/writing to Duke, and now I’m afraid that now that the self reported SAT is on the app that they would then require all sittings and subject tests. They only look at official scores they receive right? On my app portal my ACT was the only score listed and I never got an email asking to send the scores and nothing missing on my app portal. Am I okay…???

I just had a dream that I was accepted ED into Duke. My mind loves to mess with me when it knows I’m not going to get in lmao

Lift, bc you are only Required to send all scores of EITHER testing set, you should be fine. Your to do list did not require, so don’t worry about it.

the waiting is frustrating…

why hasn’t duke released the number of early applicants this year…

Thank you! @HRSMom I hope I’m fine

@Lift35 I did something similar and sent in an SAT I score as well as the full ACT report. I called my regional admissions officer and she told me that sending in SAT II scores is not necessary because I sent the official report from ACT, but that the admissions officers will look at the SAT as well as the ACT score.

@Ergo20 they will only consider the highest though right? I sent in my SAT and ACT report because I was told if I wanted to send in my subject tests, I’d have to send in my SAT I. My SAT is a 2190 but my ACT is a 34, and the subject tests are 770, 770, and 800. I hope they only looked at the ACT and subject tests…

@Ergo20 my regional officer said otherwise. My SAT I is a 2200 which I wanted to send but my subject test scores weren’t sufficient enough. So I just sent my 33 ACT (officially from the testing organization). I wanted to send my SAT I but she said I’d HAVE to send the subject tests as well. That’s why I got worried because I have a self reported 2200 SAT score on the common app. But I only sent an official test report of the 33 ACT. So I was worried if I unknowingly was then required to send subject tests which would not have been good but I was hoping they only look at official scores they receive

@Mango920452 all those scores are good and in the range for Duke so I don’t see why you should be worried

@Mango920452 I know that the applicant profile online shows your superscored scores so you can check that to see what Duke sees, but from what my admissions officer told me, if you sent in both SAT and ACT, both will be looked at.
@yc2989 I thought that those numbers are only released on the day decisions are released? http://www.dukechronicle.com/article/2014/12/duke-admit-815-early-decision-applicants

@Lift35 Perhaps my situation is different because I sent my SAT I score at the testing site, months before I took my ACT, so at that time I had no way of knowing that my ACT score would be better.

@Ergo20 oh okay so that makes sense now, you had already sent an SAT I score. Because as far as I knew you couldn’t send an SAT I score to them without also sending SAT II scores and couldn’t send any SAT II scores without sending SAT I scores as well

Ok I went to the Duke website and here is what I got…

Duke will always consider the highest test score regardless of test type. I faintly remember in the info session they said they will pull up an ACT/SAT concordance table and see which one is the highest, and consider that one. So that is what they must mean by they will LOOK at everything you send them. But they will only CONSIDER the highest scores.

@Lift35 I really don’t know about you case, but I think that since you didn’t show any subject scores, they would think of the SAT testing as incomplete, so they would only LOOK and CONSIDER your ACT scores. I don’t know if they’d wonder why you didn’t self report the Subject tests with your SAT on the common app though.

@Ergo20

Duke released early decision numbers for the class of 2019 on November 5.
