Duke Fall 2020 Transfer Thread

It seems to me that most college are taking more and more transfer students this year due to the unforeseen circumstances. I recently got into Northwestern, as did many people around me and am hoping that Duke will up its transfer rates this year too! What do you guys think?

For Fall 2018*, Duke had 1,234 transfer applicants and accepted 81.

Duke did not file a 2019 CDS.

@mkmk29 Im hoping that its the same for duke too!! i just got into northwestern too but i think duke is top choice

Last year, if I am not mistaken, Duke accepted 50 transfer students. I got this number from my boyfriend who was accepted a transfer last year and currently attends Duke.

Maybe 50 attended out of 81 that were admitted

Do you think they take more NC kids as transfer students or does the place you reside have no correlation to their decisions?

I’m sure because its a private school there is no correlation. They’re just aiming for the best students from top colleges, no matter the state

Also, how are people saying decisions will come out the 10th if its a Sunday lol

@mkmk29 if it’s anything like the past, it will likely be the 8th at the latest

@dunnowheretogo that’s what I was thinking too

What majors did you guys apply for?

I had a high school teacher write one of my letter of recs because I only had one teacher I was close with at my college. Do you think that’s good/bad?

@victortransfer I don’t think it’s good, but it isn’t necessarily bad.

when were decisions released last year?

Last year they released them on May 9

Does not getting an interview mean rejection?

@Sydneyhou It depends on alumni availability! I didn’t have an interview this year, but I had one when I applied last year.

Don’t forget that the ACC is a major athletic conference. Anyone know if it counts athletic transfers in its transfer statistics of accepted students? Could it be possible that at least half of accepted transfer applicants are athletes?

@yankeefan20 there is no use in speculating such a thing when decisions are literally coming out next week

As long as a head coach tells the admissions department that an athlete is wanted for a team, it would likely be a guaranteed spot.
