Seems kind of weird that you created an account, “Duke500” (all the Dukies know what this is a reference to), just to post this but whatever. Hate to break it to everyone, but hazing goes on at every school (that is in no way meant as an excuse or support of any kind) and this is by no means a phenomenon unique to Duke. Furthermore, this fraternity (“SAE”) is not an actual university-affiliated frat and was kicked off campus long ago because of other similarly shady allegations. It is also reputed to have the worst pledging process of all the frats at Duke, and Duke sends a letter to parents each year telling them not to let their kids join (yet it doesn’t seem to have much of an effect…maybe this publicity finally will).

Now, for something good that Duke has recently been in the news for:

actually alpha delt is technically recognized by the university – they just keep their old name of sae (though alpha delt is making it onto more and more teeshirts and things of that nature). however, ifc is welcoming a new colony of sae to form on campus in the fall (will not be the same group of guys) b/c duke was the alpha chapter of sae and alums are not too happy that the alpha chapter is not in existence.

Alpha Delta Phi is not recognized by the university; they are only recognized by Alpha Delta Phi nationals as a “Duke Affiliate.”

incollege88-- Hazing ostensibly occurs everywhere, but a family publicly hiring a PI to investigate it is big news.
