Durham, N.C. Durham police arrested Duke lacrosse accuser Crystal Gale Mangum, 33, late Wednesday after she allegedly assaulted her boyfriend, set his clothes on fire in a bathtub and threatened to stab him.

Authorities charged her with attempted first-degree murder, five counts of arson, assault and battery, communicating threats, three counts of misdemeanor child abuse, injury to personal property, identity theft and resisting a public officer.

It wasn’t karma- that lady was messed up long ago.

She lit his clothes on fire * after the police arrived?*

Yep- messed up.

This is why sports is important in schools- those adrenaline junkies can get high on exercise and learn how to work together, instead of just getting high on drama.

As we said long ago, that woman is crazy, but I doubt that she has ever gotten the treatment that she obviously needs. I doubt that she’ll get it either in prison, but at least most of society will be safe from her.

She did get medication, at least back before the Lacrosse case. I believe that she also graduated with a four-year university degree. I think that she was studying something like criminal justice.

She did get a 4 yr degree, but I think it was in social work. Her child must now be about 2 or 3 now. I am betting that because who she is, FCPS has already stepped in today regarding the child.

She will of course get off from the charges by claiming as a defense that the Duke case caused her to not trust men or the police.

The children who were evacuated from her apt are 10, 9 & 3 yrs old.
So I guess that would be the three counts of child endangerment, but I am curious about the * five* counts of arson.

I have just merged two threads started this morning on the same topic. When threads are merged, the posts appear in chronological order and so the posts up to this point are mixed from the two existing threads.

I don’t think they should bother making up crimes, even though she does deserve to go away. Their new D.A. might not be as friendly towards that sort of thing as the guy who persecuted the Duke lacrosse players.

Looking forward to hearing the Duke faculty’s take on all this - especially the ones who knew the lax guys were guilty. Any chance the Women’s Study folks and the Black Studies group issue an apology anytime soon? Pretty sure it hasn’t happened yet, but maybe I missed something.

she should go to jail for life now. She should’ve already been there after the Duke incident.

Duke faculty showed the real side of themselves when the whole thing went down with the LAX players. Surprised they get many male applicants with a faculty that just throws them under the bus like they did. Really a shame that such bad people are set to have good paying jobs for life.
