I had read about the Genarlow Wilson. It is ridiculous. The Attorney General ought to have better things to do. The only thing I can think is that they may have some nasty fellows locked up who plead down to the charge and they are afraid they will all walk if a precedent is set.

Better the Governor should pardon the kid. This ought to be a parking ticket offence at worst. If it had been a 15 year old boy instead of a 15 year old girl they would never have brought the case in the first place for fear of the Gay mafia.

For those of you wanting an update, based on the morning’s hearing, the lunch being served is Nifong, deep fried, with a side of OCD… Dude keeps picking non-existent lint of his shirt cuffs, but then, he’s already familiar with imaginary dirt…He produced enough of it, and now it is sticking to him.

Hey DukeEgr93!! I was watching him do that–he seems pretty nervous–as he should be!!! Wade Smith was really good, but Nifong’s lawyer acted like they’ve already realized that the ship is sinking fast and the rats are going down with it!!

Yes, berurah–it is poetic justice!! The coverage by CourtTV and wral has been great!

Bizarro moment thus far - “community activist” and Nifong re-election co-chair Victoria Peterson has been removed from the hearing and barred from further attendance for allegedly threatening a witness… (via Durham In Wonderland, CourtTV, and WRAL). You really, REALLY cannot make this up.

The witness that Victoria Peterson allegedly threatened was supposedly Mary Ellen Finnerty (Collin’s mom!) Mrs. Finnerty is going to be a prosecution witness in these hearings. VP supposedly said something inappropriate to her, and that was it!! This IS stranger than fiction!

Investigator Himan just revealed that during the first meeting with himself, Gottlieb, and Nifong, Mr. Nifong said, with respect to the case, “You know we’re ------” where the dashes refer back on one of Carlin’s seven words, in the past tense.

I believe the quote is as relevant today as it was then…

Here is the News & Observer’s story on Victoria Peterson’s ejection from the Bar proceedings. As always, Joe Cheshire sums it up best at the end of the article.

That woman may very well have represented the views of the community. Had she or others like her been on the jury for the fictional rape, the boys might have been convicted.

Yeah, that’s the thing about black folks (er, “the community”): they tend to be so utterly unable to think for themselves that if just one one of them speaks loudly enough, it doesn’t matter how idiotic her views are - she may be said to “represent” all of them.

WHOA!!! From what I see in the last few posts, YOU are the only one with this kind of thinking, epistrophy! I didn’t know she was black either…only after I clicked on the link after reading YOUR post. Why can’t someone make a simple comment without being accused of being a racist?

Victoria Peterson is an interesting “personailty.” She is a self-described community activist, and has often taken on the mantle of representing Durham, despite the fact that every time she’s run for an elected office, she’s been defeated. When the New Black Panther Party was blocked from marching on Duke’s campus during exam week, she took on the role of spokesperson for Durham, stating that President Brodhead was not welcome in Durham if Durham was not welcome on campus.

Based on the results of the election for DA last fall, at that time, Ms. Peterson’s views may well have been echoed by a plurality of the community. Now, however, many more people have seen Nifong for the politically motivated, self-described (!) incompetent that he is…

I have to say, epi - I didn’t see the racial overtone you ascribed to razor’s statement. Where did you see it?
