21% was the acceptance rate, not the percentage of the class. Duke now takes at least 50% of the incoming class from ED.
That is how they manage their “selectivity” stats (and boost their USN&W ranking) by taking in more EDs, and hence driving down their overall acceptance rate and increasing their yield. Good luck to all!

It really sucks that they do that because so many people cannot afford to apply ED somewhere without knowing how much FA they will receive if admitted

damn, i really want to get in, but after getting rejected from hopkins and northwestern and then waitlisted at vanderbilt, this decision ain’t lookin too good. oh well.

I cannot stop thinking about this! Duke is one of if not the top schools I applied to. I know I likely won’t get in. I got rejected from WashU so it’s not looking great… i just wish it was time already!

Haha guess I’m screwed as well. I was rejected at Hopkins and Vandy… I got accepted to West Point and Air Force Academy but would much rather do ROTC at Duke… guess we’ll see what happens… wishing everyone luck!!!
