Hoping I can get pulled up from the waitlist…does anyone know how many people generally get bumped?

Waitlisted. Does anyone know how to find your regional admission officer if you are from Canada? Duke’s admission officer page has different people associated with “international”, but didn’t specify countries.

What are the chances for getting in from waitlist?

Congrats to all that got in!
Anyone know what the wait list may look like in engineering (bme) from prior years

My son was in exact situation last year. 35 ACT, 1570 SAT, National Merit Finalist, and was either rejected or waitlisted by Duke, Northwestern, JH, Vandy, Rice. He’s a Chancellor Scholar at Univ of Illinois studying Bio Eng. and is doing well. You will end up where you’re supposed to be. So don’t fret about all those admission decisions.

Accepted!

North Dakota Scholar, National Merit Scholar, and Presidential Scholar Nominee(results in April)

EC: speech, drama, girl scouts, dance, band,
Honor Society, Student Council, and lifeguarding

Volunteer: director of middle school drama, and tutoring
Also rejected from Northwestern

Nightfury129, I’m in pretty much the same boat as you. I had good scores and activities, but I got rejected from Duke and Northwestern . I got accepted at two schools in my state with full rides through our scholar program. The only downside is that none of the schools in my state have my intended major of biomedical engineering for undergrads, so I would have to do an extra four years of college before I can study what I want. I’m applying to UT at Dallas cause they have what I want and they have great scholarships for national merit finalists.

Rejected after being deferred ED
White male from CA
1550 SAT
4.6 weighted
good EC’s
deciding between Michigan and UCLA

Son accepted. 1540 SAT. NC resident Legacy.
Accepted UC Berkley, Vandy, Notre Dame, UNC-Chapel Hill Rejected : Harvard Yale, Princeton, MIT.

S was accepted to MIT, Harvard, Yale and UPenn.

Rejected from Duke. Perfect example of “yield protection”

lol sure - didn’t know you worked in admissions. It’s not a direct, cut-and-dry process, so it’s impossible to make a statement like that when talking about Duke, also a top 10 school.

Daughter rejected after being deferred for ED
Waitlisted at UVA, William and Mary
Accepted at UNC, Davidson, USC Honors

Not necessarily. Our friend’s kid is at Harvard and was also accepted to Duke, UPenn, Brown, UCB (regents) among other colleges. I really doubt Duke, a top 10 college with a 7% acceptance rate, is too worried about yield protection. More likely the essays didn’t resonate with the adcoms. What I have noticed is that Duke’s culture is a little different than some of the ivy league colleges and you really need to show you would be a great fit for their campus.

With that said, good luck to your S, sounds like he has fabulous options!

Agreed with you, my son is accepted by Duke and he is also accepted by Harvard and Brown(he only applied these two ivy schools), it depends weather or not you fit this school, there is no guarantee to admit an excellent student to all schools.
