Duke Rowing

The Duke Women’s rowing program has an interesting reputation. Anyone care to share their thoughts/experience?

how do you mean “interesting’”?

The school itself is great, but I wish they would spend some money to build a decent boathouse.

yes, but there is something very genuine and real about the program in that it is young and has a hard working first coach (w/young energetic assistant coaches), some kids and parents are just fine with the less than glamorous boathouse and the down to earth quality of the program. They all work hard and are making their mark at races/regattas. When they row they take a 20-25 minute ride from campus to their beautiful lake provides a relief from campus/classes stress. They ride in a coach bus and can study in the quiet time it takes to get to their lake. I liked what I saw and felt about the program and so did my D.

Depends on what level you/your daughter wants to compete. However, the school treats their athletes very well, they offer scholarships, and have an interesting program for female athletes who aspire to go to med school.
