Is it possible to transfer from Duke to NYU with around a 3.5 GPA? What about Barnard?

Thanks so much

Why would you wanna leave duke :(?

yeah why even leave duke!!!??

I think I would be much happier in a city and I am not finding it too great at Duke

I am a freshman. I definitely understand how amazing Duke is but I think I would prosper in a much different environment. At the end of the day, though, would I be admitted to either Barnard or NYU with a 3.5?

I transferred to Barnard! If you could make a strong case for why you would be an asset to the Barnard community and why you want to be there (besides I <3 NYC! It’s the best! because EVERYONE says that) you have a shot. The only thing is, because this year’s first year class is so large, they are admitting fewer transfer students, so just keep that in mind.

Thanks so much! Do you have any idea how many transfer students they accept on average and what qualities they are looking for?

Last year (in the fall) they took 80something, this fall it was like 30something…the impression that I have is that they are looking for people who are passionate and want to get involved in the community, as well as people who can function in the city. They want people who want to be here, so find what about Barnard that appeals to you and highlight that.
