I went to Duke for undergrad, but for a number of complications, was unable to finish my degree. I took a break for a couple of years, and would like to go back to school to get a Bachelors, and hopefully pursue a Masters in Comp Sci. I think I’d need 1-2 semesters to complete my undergrad degree, and am considering the pros and cons of choosing between Duke and UNC. I no longer have access to the scholarship I got at Duke, and even a couple of semesters there is significantly more expensive. While I can get in-state tuition at UNC CH, I would prefer to finish at Duke if it makes sense to (and take out the necessary loans). Would there be a significant difference in the opportunities I receive after my undergrad degree if I choose one school over the other (in terms of applications, pay, etc.)? What kind of considerations should I be making when deciding?
First check that you can in fact graduate in 1-2 semesters from UNC: most universities want you to have the equivalent of 2 years at their institution. Then confirm with Duke exactly what requirements you will have to meet to graduate from Duke.
There will be 0 differences which school your degree is from in terms of grad school applications.
Agree, I don’t think the opportunities would be different BUT many colleges require that you attend for a minimum of 2 years in order to graduate from that institution. I think your best bet is to try and work with Duke and find the best way to complete your degree.
