Hello,
I’ve been fortunate enough to gain admittance to Duke, U Pitt, and Vanderbilt, but need some help deciding which one to attend. I received a full ride to U Pitt, but Vanderbilt and Duke are still financially viable (with Vanderbilt being more affordable than Duke). How do these colleges compare in terms of research, academics, teaching, and premed advising? My intended major is Neuroscience, and I am on the premed track.
Any advice/help is greatly appreciated!
Can you afford medical school if you attend Vanderbilt or Duke? If not the choice is easy. What is the difference between Vanderbilt and Duke? They are comparable academically, so if you like both, go with Vandy. One thing to consider is that most pre-med students end up doing something else. Look at your school selection with a contingency plan and consider what you would do if you did not want premed. Vandy is well known for Peabody (education) and music ; Duke has excellent engineering etc.
@ninja17 If money is a big problem, go to U- Pitt. Med school is expensive $$$$$$$$$$$, and you will need it.
Also, you would probably have a higher GPA at U-Pitt so that would be a plus.
If you had to pick between Vandy and Duke (without financials), I would choose Duke just because of its reputation, but both are similar in terms of academic quality.
Best of luck with your decision!
