Duke Waitlist 2024

The test scores have now disappeared, but the writing ‘we have received the following scores from you’ still remains. Probably just a bug.

Is there any news about Duke Kunshan? did they release any waitlist decision??

Contacted my AO and she told me it looks doubtful they will admit more people from the waitlist and everyone will receive their final decision by the end of month. Looks like an L

My AO told me that though they could continue to go to the waitlist still, chances of admission were still there, but smaller than at the beginning of the month. There is still a chance though.

So if you don’t make it off the waitlist will they let you know?

any new news on the duke WL? Is it 100% done and nobody else will get in?

Is the waitlist done? Or will they still be accepting off the waitlist?

I think the waves are done, but they may contact individual people till the end of the month (just my opinion tho)

any new update from AOs?

Who all got an email from the admissions office saying that the waitlist process was officially over.? I saw on reddit that pretty much everyone got it. However, I have yet to receive this email, and I checked all folders. Does this mean that I am still in the running? I was recently in contact with my AO and she said that the dean of admissions is finalizing any final waitlist spots, and that she let him know that I was still very interested in attending.

@eashwar1 I didn’t get anything…

I’ve checked spam/junk, portal, everything. No email, no updates, nothing.

On June 12, Duke AAAC volunteers received an email with the following information:

The Class of 2024 is now complete! Most of the remaining students on the waitlist were notified late last week that the admissions process has concluded. A few students will remain active on the waitlist until the end of the month in case Admissions needs to admit a few more students.

Your guess is as good as mine as to where the waitlist now stands (in July) or if any applicants still remain on the waitlist.
Just wanted to post some information which was shared directly from Duke .

Good luck to all the graduating High School Seniors from the Class of 2020 in the Fall!

My daughter hasn’t heard anything either. She sent a note to her AO yesterday because she just got off Northwestern waitlist and didn’t want to hop around, as Duke is her top choice. Any further info on what people are hearing would be much appreciated. I know school must be starting soon, so can’t be much longer…

@wjm417 Duke just announced to freshmen Today, 7/10, dorm assignments and informed all freshmen that they will be in singles (except for athletes who will be housed together). Move in dates for freshmen will be Aug 7-10.
Also, Duke AAAC were told that very few applicants remained on the waitlist which will remain open until the end of the month in case Admissions needs to admit a few more students.
I imagine that any changes in decisions to take a Gap year or defer by those admitted will be made in the next few days. Best of luck to your daughter for good news!

Thanks so much for the update. I guess she will sit tight and hope for good news in the next few weeks. Odd to me that admissions never responded to her reaching out but I guess they don’t want to get her hopes up.

I just got an email from Duke saying the Class of 2024 was completely full and no more students will be accepted for that year. However, I was one of the few who was still active on the waitlist offered an opportunity to defer for a year and matriculate into Duke’s Class of 2025 if I choose to do so.

@eashwar1 can you copy and paste into a message exactly the part that says that in the email? I may have gotten that too but I am confused on the wording of the email.

Dear Eashwar:

Greetings from Duke! We hope this message finds you and your family safe and healthy. On behalf of the admissions committee, we would like to give you an update on the status of your application to Duke.

While unfortunately we are fully enrolled for the class entering this fall, we are able to offer a few students a place at Duke as first-year students a year from now, in the fall of 2021, and we’d like to offer you this opportunity.

We fully appreciate that your plans for the coming year are likely set, and we expect you have chosen an outstanding college for the fall, so we understand if you need to decline this offer. At the same time, it was obvious to all of us that you have the ability to contribute significantly to the Duke community, and we wanted to let you know that if you were considering deferring your college enrollment for a year, a place in the Duke Class of 2025 is available to you. If you were to accept the conditions we ask of everyone taking a gap year, your spot would be secured to begin here in Durham in the fall of 2021.

If you think you might be interested in pursuing this opportunity, please respond to this email by July 31, and we’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

If you would rather continue with your current plans, you could also consider applying for transfer admission for the fall of 2021. While the transfer process is also a selective one, the transfer committee would be aware of your previous strong interest in Duke.

Thank you again for applying and all best wishes for the year to come.

Sincerely,

James Ziemba and Nicole Piedra
