Hey guys,

I’m a Duke 2010, and I’m wondering what Due is renowned for, besides basketball

Help me out here!

do you mean just sports-wise?

Oh, come on guys. Basketball is an awesome facet, but it’s definitely not even close to being everything.

Let’s see…off the top of my head, I can come up with a couple of things. #2 BME school in the country, the Primate Center, the Duke Gardens, ~80-85% admission rate to medical school (double the national average) so we have a very strong pre-med program, med center right on campus which allows a lot of volunteer opportunities through there, gorgeous campus, unique certificate programs, strong Econ department, Public Policy major (not offered at many schools)…

For a more general thing, I can definitely say that I think we are known to be the school that truly offers everything. As I’ve heard said before, we’re like the ivy league school with the state school sports program. Plus we sort of define “Work hard, Play hard.” Oh, and we have nicer weather than most other schools of our caliber (aside from Stanford).

And…I know you said aside from basketball…but K-Ville. We are known for K-Ville. I’m sorry, but it had to be mentioned.

Hope that maybe helps?

What do you do with an Econ major? Who do you usually work for?

you can do a lot with an econ major, as you can with any liberal arts major.

the first and seemingly most typical thing that comes to mind is I-banking, consulting, that sort of thing.

In my case, you go to medical school…

Adding to what’s been said already,
