i just booked tickets to do college visit trip on american…they sent me the e ticket but when i print it half the itinerary and the bar code doesnt print.(on print preview it doesnt show up) i tried copying, but bar codes dont copy in pdf or rich text. so what i did was use the grab function (apple computer) and copied the screen image. when i print it out though the bar code is much bigger than it would have been from my email. if i take that to the airport will the larger bar code still work for check in?

Have you tried to change the orientation to landscape from portrait?

The larger barcode may be a problem if the code is larger than the scanner, I suppose. But you can always punch in your reservation number and get the relevant screens to come up at check in. You can also get the kiosk at the airport to print out boarding passes, if you have the same trouble printing boarding passe at home.

“You can also get the kiosk at the airport to print out boarding passes, if you have the same trouble printing boarding passe at home.”

Yes. I’m a frequent e-traveler and I never use the bar code at all. I often check in on-line, but as LMNOP says, if I can’t print a decent boarding pass at home, I print one out at the airport. In other words, not to worry.

thanks guys. i’ve never had 1/2 a ticket not print. still cant figure out why. it is there in the email but not in preview print or when i print it…its invisible LOL. will have to see if i can do boarding passes from home also. the first airport is fairly small and wont be crunched for time but was worried if it didnt work at another airport as really tight time frames.

I usually don’t print from the email, but print from the airline website. Printing from an email can be devilishly tricky.

I wonder if all boarding passes, including the connecting flights, can be printed out at the first kiosk.

The eticket is not your boarding pass. You need to sign on to the airline website within the 24 hour window before your flight to get your boarding pass ahead of time. If not, just get the boarding pass at the airport. Do not worry about the bar code. It is only for gettign your boarding pass at the kiosk if you have no other way of doing it.

ellemenope, went back to website and it printed fine from there thanks!!!
singersmom, just really wanted the bar code for return flight home, will not be able to print return boarding passes as wont have access to computer and will have a real time crunch for return, (as wont have lugguge to check in wanted to go to kiosk and get boarding pass if we were running late not have to wait in line)
but have a good one now so everything should be fine!

thanks for all help and suggestions

If you have the ticket number on the itinerary that will work. Last time I went on a e ticket i just showed my ID and before I could get my stack of printed stuff out of my bag they had my ticket ( at the curb). I also used the kiosk and just keyed in the name and ticket number and that worked. Being compulsive when I travel, i put a pdf of my ticket on my laptop on the desktop.

But dont forget your pic ID. cant go anywhere without thaT.

I have also used my credit card or my airline card to check into the kiosk. Several different ways to get into the reservation at the kiosk…
