Duration of winter break

Just curious. How many weeks are students given between semesters during winter break? If current students can remember the specific dates, I’d really appreciate it.

I’m asking because I plan on doing something during the break and would like to know how many weeks would be available.

The last exams were on December 19th, 2006, and classes started January 24th, 2007. We could move in at 10am on January 21st.

What about the winter session? I haven’t seen much info on it—can you live on campus and do it? Also, Penn-dreamer, the 2007-2008 academic calendar is on the UMD site (in several places)—that should help for the specific dates for 2007 and 2008, although it’s generally the same time period as it was for 2006-2007…just varying b’cse of days of the week.

whoah!! we have over a month off for winter break!! awesome!!

astrophysicsmom-- i did winter session this past winter and it was great. 3 hours of class, 5 days a week. then i had all afternoon to go to the gym/study, and i could go out or hang out with friends at night.

only a few residence halls are open during the winter, but sometimes out-of-state students will sublet their apartments to people staying for for winter session. it’s pretty easy to find housing for that.

at least a month, if not 5 weeks! (i think it’s the most out of any school i know)
