DVD compatible with Netflix question

Excuse my electronic awkwardness…
Would like to buy my D a new dvd player - hers has bit the dust.

She has a flat screen but I don’t think it is a Smart TV. Can I buy a DVD player that will allow her to use wireless to connect to Netflix and stream to her TV??? She has wireless in her apartment. If yes, should I be looking for a DVD player that is “smart”, “wireless” - or what???

Have credit $$$ to use up at Best Buy so will probably try and purchase there. I figured “yes” to Blu Ray at this point too (don’t even know if there are non-Blue Ray players anymore) - because Blu-Ray will play non-Blu-Ray discs but not the opposite (non Blu Ray players will not play Blu Ray discs).

Appreciate any suggestions. :)

She could probably play a DVD on her laptop and watch it on her TV.

What is a " Smart tv"?
We don’t have a flat screen so I am behind on terminology.

She would prefer to have a DVD player.

smart TV
A smart TV, sometimes referred to as connected TV or hybrid TV, (not to be confused with IPTV, Internet TV, or with Web TV) is a television set or set-top box with integrated Internet and Web 2.0 features, and is an example of technological convergence between computers and television sets and set-top boxes.

That’s the Google definition.

We have a blu-ray LG and it works fine. We have used it to connect to netflix but now our cable company’s tiro has it there. I’m sure the model numbers are all different now.

We have a blu-ray Samsung that works great with Netflix and also with Amazon Prime videos. They display on the player’s menu which is really nice. I searched on Amazon for blu-ray and prime compatible and came up with the Samsung model. I think I paid $80 about a year ago.
