Dyson hair dryer

I’m at an Airbnb this weekend. They have a Dyson hair dryer, I’m shocked how nice it is.

Does anyone have one, do you think it’s worth the price?

Also what is a good price and where is the best place to buy one of these things?

This is why I shouldn’t use nice things, I now want to buy one!

My DIL has the Dyson Air Wrap (or something close to that). She has long, naturally wavy, but somewhat unruly hair. She LOVEs her Dyson. She got hers at a Dyson store that existed at least for the holiday season. I’ve seen pretty good deals on them at Ulta. Sometimes they offer promotions and you get extra accessories or whatever. She got hers where she did because they had a better overall package.

ETA if you’re a Costco member, they have it on special for $140 off right now.

I used one for the first time last month. I was underwhelmed. I like my hairdresser’s ionic hair dryer better for a fraction of the price. I believe it’s an Ella Bella.

Yikes…what is the cost if it’s $140 “off”?

D loves her Dyson air wrap and her hair looks great. I tried it once but didn’t really have the hang of using it. I may try hers again.

This is the ad for the airwrap - is this different than the “hair dryer”??

I’m not looking for the airwrap. My daughter has it and says it’s great.

Just a regular hair dryer. My hair was so soft and wasn’t frizzy. Or stick up straight, or was stiff. Which is how my regular hair dryer does. My hair also looked good all day.

They are ridiculously expensive!

This is what I used at the Airbnb

I’m pretty sure that’s the dryer my hair stylist uses to dry hair. I only had her dry my hair a time or two (it’s cheaper without getting hair dried), but I asked her about it and she loves it/said it’s totally worth it.

I have a Dyson hairdryer. I got it right from Dyson. I think the first decision is whether you want just the hairdryer or the hairdryer with accessories. Sometimes Bloomingdale’s has a good price and if you can combine it with a 10% or 12% Rakuten Bloomingdale’s cash back, even better. Costco also often has a good price. I have had mine for several years so the price per use is very low.

I mean it’s something you use a lot so the cost per use is low. I waste money on things I don’t use.

Has anyone bought a refurbished one? eBay has some, I think I just need the dryer and no attachments as my hair is pretty short.

As I have aged, my hair is a fizzy, untamed mess than it was when I was younger.

Costco! They have a generous return policy.

Another vote for Costco if price is similar.

The Dyson doesn’t work for me. I was on a cruise where they had them in the cabins. It made my hair feel like straw. I also have the Shark version of the air wrap, which also has a hair dryer and it’s the same outcome. I think it’s the combination of very dry air coming out at a very high intensity. I do love my Shark for curling my hair once it’s dry.

Only you can decide whether it’s worth it for the Dyson. I know there are less expensive brands with the same technology (Shark & T3 to name a couple). Lots of reels and YouTubes doing comparisons with the Dyson.

@CollegeNerd67, I’ll keep in mind the alternatives, I hadn’t considered that there would be others that use the same technology.

I should have waited for more responses.

I ended up buying the Dyson that @BunsenBurner linked except at HSN. It was the same price but included some accessories that looked nice. Plus free shipping today.

Merry Christmas to me!

I bought a Dyson and it fried my hair, even though I used the reduced heat function.

My D has it and loves hers.

@deb922 I love that you got this for yourself!!!

I have an Airwrap and love it. Mostly use the styling brush. I put a small drop of Kerastase heat protector on the dry ends of my hair.

Merry Christmas to you @deb922 ! :wrapped_gift:!

I’m glad you bought it and hope you love it as much as I love mine. I think I got mine at Costco a couple years ago. It’s definitely the best hair dryer I’ve ever had, much better the the T3 I used to buy. It’s small, lightweight and dries my hair fast. Plus the air intake vent never grabs my hair because it’s placed at the bottom of the handle.
