E. Coli in my school

In my biology class, we were doing test of random places for bacteria, like the underside of someone’s shoe, the back of someone’s hand, etc.
One group tested the doorknob of the class room, and the instructor; after looking at it for a few days, determind that there were eight species of bacteria on the swab from doorknob, including E.Coli.

Later, my group did a test of all water supplies: toilet water, tap water, bottled water, etc. - we found e.coli in the tap water.
Now the school has shut down the building we found it in, and are adding filters or something.

Has anyone else found anything like this in their schools?

I’m not too surprised…

Bacteria are found and not found in the weirdest of places.

For example, in our bio class, we did the same experiment. The two cleanest things we tested were the bathroom floor (zero bacterial colonies), and my toes (I’m dead serious… I swabbed my toes and inoculated a plate… only 2 colonies)

Yeah we found the mono bacteria in the water fountain water, it’s been shut down since.

we have a really bad mold problem though, they’re going to remodel the entire school soon since it’s out of control.
