E-mail at Brown

Since Brown’s e-mail is with google I was thinking of just directing all of my future mail to my brown account and forgetting about my old gmail account. Is it bad idea to do this and what happens once you leave Brown (can you keep the same e-mail?)

As of now, no. But UCS may be doing something about it.

[UCS considers permanent e-mail accounts - The Brown Daily Herald - Serving the community daily since 1891](http://www.browndailyherald.com/ucs-considers-permanent-e-mail-accounts-1.2469100)

I did that temporarily - all incoming mail to any of my emails, I pick up in one Gmail account. However, when I sign up for websites and things like that, I do it on my gmail, not my Brown account.

Consider having your Brown email forwarded to your existing gmail account (assuming your existing gmail account looks professional and isn’t something like hotgrls69).

You can use gmail to send email as if it’s coming from any account that you can prove you own. For example, when I write an email in gmail, I can have it appear to come from my gmail account, from my Harvard account, from my Brown alumni account, or from my non-profit. So, even if your gmail isn’t professional looking, you should be all set.

Thanks for the help! I know what I’m going to do

I really hope they let us use our Brown emails once we graduate…I’m completely behind the UCS on this one.
