EA acceptance by State

Is there any way I can find out how many from each State got accepted from EA?

I’ve taken these numbers from the admitted students’ website. There’s a chance I added wrong, but other than that they should be fairly accurate. North and South Dakota are the only states with zero admittances.

cool! I was admitted but I don’t know how you had access to that, as I couldn’t find info like that anywhere!

Secret Asia Man - thanks. This is really interesting hard evidence, and seems to then support some of the assertions made in other threads.

Damn, they accepted so many people from New York.

New York and California always have a ton of acceptances.

And the info is available on the chicago accounts of admitted students for those who were wondering :)

Of course, Illinois is overrepresented - but that’s probably just because a lot more people from the Chicago region apply.

Also, UChicago gives merit scholarships to a select number of students accepted who attended a public high school in Chicago - “Chicago Public Schools (CPS) Scholarship.”

Would you happen to have the number of applicants who applied from each of those states?

I don’t - only the number admitted shows up on the website.

Quick question: I am applying RD from South Dakota. Would you say that my state helps or hurts my chances? Regional diversity and whatnot. Because from a cursory view of the stats it doesn’t look promising haha…yet, it could also be that no one applied EA from my state or that the field was just not UChicago material.

Helps probably. Nice thing for a school to be able to say it has students from all 50 states.
