BLACK BELT in tae-kwon-do (practicing for 5 yrs) - wrote essay about it.

Your chances seem pretty good, although it is impossible to be sure at a place like yale that has so many qualified applicants. A lot will depend on essays and recommendations. However, I would try not to associate myself with Tom DeLay at a time like this, he’s in a bit of trouble (LOL).

You superhuman freak! No, seriously. Do you mind if I build a shrine to you? If you do not get in, nothing in my life will make sense.

u are one of em people who only won’t get in for 2 reasons:

1) ur an *** in real life
2) you lied

joethemole thts not very reasonable…
but op why r u even asking i mean what’s the bad part on ur app. which u r doubting??

i am asian and male - thats the bad part
And my essays and recs will be about average…I want to know whether the stats will make up for this mediocrity.

honestly, FdGd744, HONESTLY. With the kind of accomplishments that youve achieved, you “definition” of average and mediocrity would probably slap the rest of us in our faces.

So…I’m asian and female. Whoopie. I don’t have an advantage because I’m a girl or a great disadvantage because my mother is Chinese. It’s not worth the time worrying about factors we can’t change (including the recs). You look like a driven, intelligent individual with definite potential to contribute to the student body. That’s what matters. And as Joethemole says, your definition of ‘average’ is probably a plain old A without a +. If you want input on the essays I’d be happy to help, if that’s what you’re worried about.

u never know though my sisters bf…got a 1600 pretty good stats otherwise applied to ivys and callibers and went to U of Chicago(great school but the point is) theres a chance u wolnt get into IVy leagues w/ perfect/close to perfect scores

tkm, I wasn’t saying that being male is an advantage for admission in general, but it does work against you in the field of engineering - slightly. And being Asian does work against you a lot, but I guess I would be considered an International student with my Canadian citizenship.

Thank you guys very much for your comments and feedback - I appreciate it.

if u write an interesting essay, i would be really surpised if u dont get in b.c i know an asian girl who was not nearly as qualified as you are and still got in.

and just wondering, how were u able to do that biomedical/immunology research at Texas Tech. did u know a professor there or was it some kind of special program? and this goes for the other research programs too b/c im really enthusiastic about any biological/chemical research, but im having trouble finding them.

how can u take 15 apS!!!

svvimfreak,
I was part of a program known as CLARK SCHOLARS during the summer of my junior year. It was REALLY fun. Not only did I gain a lot of research experience, I had the chance to experience university life for seven weeks. We stayed in a dorm and got paid. The students (12 of us) were the most intelligent people I have ever met - it was literally like a mini-Ivy League university.

15 APs in total, over 3 years. I am taking 9 this year.

Hey, I’m a black belt in tae kwon do too! If we both get in (i promise i’m not jinxing it), let’s join the team together!

But seriously, you have an amazinnnnnnnng record and if you don’t get in, then I will have to go jump out a window or something because then I definitely don’t have a shot.

Great chances…

Don’t be amazed if they don’t accept you, though.

I agree sr6622,

and I do plan on joining the team jli2006!!

wahhh 0_ooo geez! who are you!? haha. yea, i say ur chances are about 80-20 (in-out).

i mean 80-20 being the highest since its an ivy league and they probably just roll a dice or something. well unless ur dad’s name is george bush, and he donated a few million to the school.

wets himself

those are the bestest stats in the worlded!

Good luck. Those stats are awesome.
